IjjPff mmAs From Around Home Pat Mundinger, her guitar and a host of participating songs, kept children and parents alike busy Saturday morning at the Elva Reid Gallery east of Kirby. Action songs surely caught the fancy of the children and there was good participation. The childrens program with Pat Mundinger is being ' conducted at the Gallery every Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00 noon during the month of July. According to Miss Reid this program is being conducted in recognition of the International Year of the Child. This coming Saturday the program will be augmented with what is known as fighting kites, a Japanese art form. She expects it to be very interesting. Children from the area are invited to attend the morning session. Another feature of the Gallery this coming weekend, weekend, both Saturday and Sun- ' day will be a demonstration of tie dyeing, a technic of colouring silk fabric. My story this week starts in Port Hope where quite often I travel to attend Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority Authority meetings. Through trial and error we have set on a time of 4:30 p.m. for the call of the monthly executive meeting. We have found that the late afternoon meeting puts the group in the mood of getting down to business generally resulting in productive one and a half hour sessions. It also affords the group, if so they wish, the opportunity of having dinner together either as a social outing or to discuss Authority future business in an informal manner. The June executive meeting meeting went well. . .all wrapped Hitchhike by Isabelle Holland • (a- sixteen year old girl takes to the road) ' New paperbacks for summer reading. Madeleine Hadley. up prior to 6:00 p.m. and we were about to depart to the Greenwood Towers for dinner when I made an offhand remark that I hoped my soup would be hot this time. As I had wanted to leave shortly after 7:00 p.m. for a Bowmanville meeting I drove to the Greenwood by myself arriving a few minutes after the other members of the committee. Upon entering the Greenwood Greenwood I was greeted by one of the new managers who asked if my name was Forrester? . Yes. You have complained of cold soup (Right then I knew I had been dubbed by the members of the committee). It will never happen again at the Greenwood Come with' me. I was introduced to the four waitresses in the dining Rail Orono Weekly Times, who were told never to forget that face and be sure his soup is always hot when he is here, for dinner. After this we just had to have soup even though we may have relished a salad on this particular day. On top of- this the manager stated he had had the cook place the soup on the frontburner. The soup was hot! This of course offered us with a number of laughs and we awaited the special of the day, French Omelette, to be served. In short order our waitress was at the table with steaming steaming hot French Omelettes which necessitated her wearing wearing oven mits to serve us. "Watch the plates," she said, "they are hot", Yes, and so was thie omelette. Although we enjoyed the kabitizjng the meal was a delight with the extra temperature temperature giving it an extra edge. It has always been'one complaint that I have had eating out and that being that the temperature never being up to where I like it. Wednesday, July 11th, 1979-5 If you are at the Greenwood and you like your meal hot, tell the manager you like your soup as hot as does Forrester from the Ganaraska.
