It was played in Oshawa against the Woodview team with the final score of 5-1. Orono came out in the first half showing little of the experience they had gained over the last two months. Feet and bodies were flying in every direction, the ball was free from harm when Orono was tyring to move it. Again Blaine Bruton in goal saved the day and with the 'steady play of Scott Alldread Orono finished the half only one goal down. The second half was a new ball game, "What was in that water". From the opening whistle Orono didn't look back as they scored five unanswered goals. The forwards played their positions taking advantage of the opposition's retreating fullbacks. The halfbacks carried the ball well pushing ahead many playmaking passes and the fullbacks stalled any attempts to penetrate their end. With this type of teamwork the goals had to come. Jeff Vanhaverbeke scored a hat trick, Scott Irwin scored one and Robert Snoek showed excellent control as he picked the lower right hand corner.to score another. Free publication ayailable for freezing vegetables A, taste of July in mid- January is what freezing is all about. But what comes out of the freezer won't be better than what goes in, according to food consultants at Agriculture Agriculture Canada. Freezing doesn't improve the quality of vegetables - it simply preserves high qulaity .produce at its peak of freshness. Select vegetables that are garden-fresh, young, tender and at the ideal stage of maturity. Avoid the tough, starchy, or woody ones. If you can, freeze them within hours of gathering. Some vegetables vegetables freeze better than others. Beans, broccoli, peas, spinach and whole kernel corn are particularly good. Corn on the cob tends to develop off-flavours, bpt accurate accurate blanching usually avoids the problem. Celery, shallots, lettuce, tomatoes and . other vegetables usually eaten raw don't freeze well. " Once thawed, they're mushy or limb. But tomatoes cooked slightly, can be frozen for use in soups and stews. Cooked ' 'reels are best frozen sliced or i x red rather than whole, "^because the texture turns rubbery and limp. Most vegetables need to be blanch before freezing. Follow blanching blanching times exactly. Under- blancing doesn't destroy all the enzymes, and overblanching overblanching overcooks the vegetables and, reduces flavour aryl nutrie'nts. ' For example, blançh green or wax beans 3 min. for* cut beans and 4 minutes for whole. Shelled peas, spinach, vegetable marrow marrow and zucchini need 2 min. while cauliflower requires 3 min. Chill immediately after blanching by placing in cold, running or ice water. And: drain the vegetables thoroughly, thoroughly, bdfore packing. It was another case last Friday evening that we should have had our camera hanging around our neck. It seems all too often the camera is at the office when we could make use of it. Last Friday on visiting Vern Harris, north of Orono, one of the area's noted chicken fanciers, while looking looking for a few chickens for our revamped chicken house we could have used the camera to record a somewhat novel association in the animal world. * In one of the large pens Vern pointed to a cat with her kitten all curled up in a hen's nest which also showed evidence evidence of a good setting of Vern explained that the cat had carried her lone kitten to the nest and had- set up housekeeping with no dispute from the hen in fact both are making use of the nest, even at the same time. Vern explained that the young kitten would snuggle in under the hen when the mother cat left to look for dinner. This hen, cat and kitten were certainly a most com- SAVEON AUTO INSURANCE?
