( Sunday morning was a beautiful April morning and 1 .there was a fine attendance at church. Mrs. Ted' King brought her two sisters Miss- j es Ann and Elizabeth Hughes from Ayrshire, Scotland. Oth- ■;j er Easter visitors were there from AgincoUrt, Shiloh, etc, A i; junior choir sang an Easter hymn. Then an unveiling ceremony took place. Kendal : Presbyterian and Methodist ! Churches united in 1917. The ji portraits of the thirteen it. ministers who have served the church since that time have been collected and ' mounted. They now are !; grouped around a picture of Kendal United Church on the west wall. Mrs. K. Wood was j the leader of this worthwhile project. In the unveiling she t ; was assisted by Miss Cath- , }; erine Stewart and Mr. A. : Thompson. This was followed : by a prayer of Thanksgiving it for the work of these mini- 1 sters and the hope that God's richest blessings will be with ji his people in the years to ! come. Following this the children of the Sunday School re- j enacted the story of the > crucificion. Steven Hellebust i| read the story from St. John's ! gospel as the three lads came i up the isle carrying their <\ crosses. The ; j ladies were there at the cross. :i The part of Mary Magdalene | was acted by P'amella Frank. A real tomb with the stone ; rolled away had been con- ji structed. Tizzard read St. Mark 16:1-1& I The women i found the stone 1 was rolled away and the tomb i; was empty. In verse 7 the ■ j young man said, "Tell the dièciples that he goeth before you Into Galilee". iJesus is always there before us. If I : take the wings of the morning and go to the uttermost parts I of the earth even there Thou ! art there. Jesus was going on before. He is there at the j' beginning, He is there at the ! end. He is Alpha and Omega;* We have to seek him. Two ■ people were walking to Em- ; maus and they found him. Then followed the communion service. Mr. Samuel Jones of Newtonville said, "I have seen the sky darkened by the flight of wild pigeons, and when these alighted in myriads on the ground to feed, it seemed as if the surface of the earth was heaving as they moved about. Indians came regularly in spring to make baskets in the adjoining woods, baskets that Were traded to the settlers for provisions". "I have seen the sickle give place to the cradle, the cradle to the reaper, and the reaper to the self-binder. Our first cradle called the "Grape Vine" was made by Asa Davis at Newcastle. Joseph Moulton once cut six acres of, rye with it in a day. Our first, reaper was "The Woods";', invented by a man of that name and made at Newcastle by the first of the Masseys. That, in my opinion, Was the best reaper ever .made. As grain production increased increased Port Granby becamç an important shipping point and J have seen as much as ten thousand bushels of barley barley loaded into waiting schooners schooners in a single day. Today the port is not even a remains. The piers rotted away years ago and stone-hookers carried carried off the stone. Eggs have only increased in price seven percept while other protein foods ' have increased seventeen percent. A hen in New Jersey laid 343 eggs in a year.
