Their trip, having approval of the Ganaraska Authority, started out from the Forest Centre shortly after noon on Saturday. It was a two mile treck to the camp site over forest trails. Larry Pooler explains it was hard enough to ski let alone carry a fifty pound pack or drag a toboggan and he vows they had more supplies than were really required for the outing. After the loss of pounds of fat and buckets of perspiration perspiration the group arrived at their designated eafnp site where they first prepared a steak dinner. Snow was cleared away for the small tents and as the group were prohibited in lighting a- camp fire in the forest it was naturally early to bed. "We were quite comfortable comfortable all night", describes Pooler, and awoke to a real blanket of snow early in the morning. In fact Pooler described the snowfall so dense that they decided to forego breakfast at the camp, "how could you eat breakfast with snojv falling in your plate", exclaimed Pooler. Pooler points out that their trip out of the forest was made in record time compared compared to the trip into camp. "I was home in time for breakfast", breakfast", he said. ,,j 'Pooler describes the outing as great and felt the group had learned a few things about winter camping. St. Saviour's Vestry meeting St. Saviours held their annual vistry meeting in the Parish Hall on Sunday, Feb. 4th at 2 p.m. Due to bad weather, the attendance was poor' but all the offices were filled for the coming year. The church has had a very successful year by all the reports that were given, we have welcomed some 5 new families to the church this past year. The over-night campout was the first such venture for the club during the winter months and the words of wisdom from Larry Pooler was, "We learned a lot during those few hours in the bush". A Bowmanville JC digs in in preparation for a cosy night and as it is mid winter the digging is into some two feet of snow. This is in preparation for the erection of his small tent.
