10-- ÔRONO WEEKLY TIM 'LS, WEI).. DECEMBER 22nd, 1976 Orono Novice team trade win with lose Port Perry vs. Orono at Port perry, Deci ipth, 1976. Orono (Newcastle Block) were defeated 14-0. Chris Langford, our goalie played very well. Our teâin played a hard game. Dec. 17th, Orono (Newcastle Block) hosted Bowman ville and Orono defeated the BOwmanville team 3-0. Paul Henry scored a hat trick with assists to Mike Dennis and Dave Little. Orono O.M.H.A. PeeWees lose to Newcastle squad : " The Orono O.M.H.A. Pee Wees lost to Newcastle on Monday by a score of 7-2. Newcastle scored 3 goals in the 1st period. Goals were scored by Willie Vanseggelin unassisted, Willie Vanseggelin, assisted by James Craujo, Jamie Caswell, Bobby Stiles. At 3:17 Orono scored their 1st goal by Teddy Oster assisted by Paul King. Newcastle scored-3 more goals by Brad Kelly assisted by Gary Martin and Dayrell Rowe, Kyrke Innis assisted, by Gary Martin, James Craujo assisted by Mark Lake. Orono finished the scoring with a goal by Dave Groshap unassisted. This was a penalty filled game with eight penalties handed out to each side. The Orono O.M.H.A. Pee Wees entered the Hockey Tournament held in Newcastle on Saturday, Dec. 18th, 1976. Orono played two very good games although they lost the 1st one to Bowmanville 5-2 and they lost the second one to Newcastle 5-3. The scoring went: Bowmanville - Terry Allen 3, Brian Strong 1, Brad. Clemens 1. Assists went to Peter Huron, Greg Dreossi. Orono goals to Glen Evens and Teddy Oster, assists to Paul King- The scoring in the. second game went Newcastle goals - Bob Stiles 2, Mark Lake 1, Frank Stubbinton 1, Brad Kelly, assists to Mark Lake 2, Bob Stiles 1. Orono scoring - Goals: Dave Groskop 1, Peter BoltonT, Teddy Oster 1, assists to Paul King 1, Scott Richards 1. , This was a very well organized tournament and the whole team enjoyed themselves. This was reflected in theii play. They played two very strong games with* the play being much closer than the score would indicate. Orono O.AA.H.A. Midgets coming close On Wëdnesday night, " December | 15th, the Orono O.M.H.A. Midgets hosted Pickering and were defeated 3-0. Although 1 the Orono team played well and had many opportunities, they were unable to put the puck past the Pickering goalie. Playing well for Orono were Ken Evans, Pat Williams and Mark Charland. Saturday night, December 18th, the i O.M.H.A. Midgets hosted Port Hope and ■ were narrowly defeated 4-3. Orono opened the scoring with a goal from Ron Opoka, asisted by Jim Leslie. Orono advanced on ! their lead early in the second period with a short-handed goal from Terry Deriet, assist to David Sunstrum. Port Hope came back to tie the score with two quick goals. Orono once again took the lead late in the second with a goal from David Sunstrum, assisted by John West and Terry Deriet. Port Hope tied the score near the end of the second .period. With approximately one second left in the game Port Hope scored, « making the final score 4-3. Orono Bantams defeat Mi 11 brook Bantams On Wednesday, Dec. 15th, the O.M.H.A. Bantams played in Port Perry. The boys were short handed by four players for this game due to injuries and sickness so were unable to give the Port Perry team much of a battle. They won the game 9-0. An exhibition game was played Saturday night in Orono against Millbrook. Again short handed the boys did put down Millbrook 4-2. Bob Myles opened the scoring on a pass from Paul Reed in the 1 first period. Millbrook scored on a power play to tie it up and then Terry Hedges put Oijono ahead from Preston Long and Alan _ Wèbster. Paul Reed tipped in a pass from Peter Kurhkert and. Jim Moffatt, Alan Webster unassisted made the score 4-1 but with just over a minute left Millbrook scored another to end the game 4-2 for Orono. The Monday night home game had Pickering in for their last time for this schedule. They scored one goal in the first period but early in the second period Martin Perry tipped in Robbie Talsma's and Joey Seneco's pass. Pickering went ahead agin but before the period was over Joey Seneco from Martin Perry and Robbie Talsma tied it up. Orono got the go ahead goal in the third period by Robbie ' Talsma from Martin Perry but Pickering got two more to end a very fast and exciting game 4-3. Dan Mitchell, Paul Reddick, Duane major, Pete Kruhkert, Ross Stutt, John Bolton contributed- greatly to this week's games. The ,, Bantams wish everyone a Merry Christmas Christmas and a Happy New Year. Game cancelled due to high winds in Newcastle ATOM The Orono Atoms game against Newcastle Dec. 14th was cancelled with high winds closing the Newcastle arena. The game has been rescheduled for Tues., Dec: 21st: Results will appear in next week's edition. Coaches Denis Mumford, Robbie Brandt and Ron Taylor would like to wish the boys a very Merry Christmas. Four Straight wins for Orono U.C. PeeWees The Orono Pee Wees met Millbrook ' for the second time this season beating them 5-3, their fourth win in as many games. Orono goal scorers were Rhyes Jenkins, Kirk Carr (2), Brett Johnson and Steve Wood. Assists went to Derek ewman, Stephan Bob, Brett Johnson (2), Steve Stec, Paul Va'nder ,Valk, and Rhyes Jenkins. The Orono nets were tended by Mark Stapleton and Jay Olesen. The next Pee Wee game is in Newcastle Jan. 6th. A very Merry Christmas to the team from Nick Van Seggelen, Denis Mumford, Pat Williams and Walt Stapleton. Flu bug hits Tennant Fuel atoms the hardest December 15th, 1976 • Orono eame up against the Oshawa Bi-Way Red Wings - they came out on the short end of the score 4-0. Glyn Jenkins and Randy Tennant played a Strong game for Orono. December 18th, 1976* , Orono Tennant Fuel Atoms travelled to Pickering on Saturday evening. Some of the boys had the flu and could not make the game. Orono played with only 2 lines, again coming up short on the scoreboard 4-0. Grey Vey, Steve Sawyer, Murray Dpnnis and Geoff Green played well for Orono. Mike Sawyer, Jim Murree and Stan Green wish to extend a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the. team • members and also to the parents.
