On Wednesday, Wednesday, the 8th, the United Church Women met at the home of Mrs; K. Wood for their annual dinner. Eleven members and two visitors /■enjoyed this social event. In the afternoon they held their meeting. Our president was ill so Mrs. M. Stevens chaired ' the meeting. Each member contributed in some way to the program. One member had made two Christmas corsages. She told how this' was done. Then she presented . one to our pianist Mrs. K. Wood, the other to Mrs. A. | Tizzard. Some read poems, others told Christmas stories. One was the life , of Helen Steiner Rice and her poem "The Priceless Gift of Christmas." Christmas." A most perfect quilt was shown by Mrs. M. Atkins. Carols were sung by all and a solo by Mrs. A. Tizzard. The minutes and treasurer's report report were given. It was agreed by the members that the following donations would be made: to the Bible Society $15.00, to Oxfam $15.00, to the manse fund $100.00, to the Kendal Church Board $200.00. The next meeting will be January 5th. On Friday at 1 p.m. the Kendal Women's Insitute met at the home of Mrs. H. Foster for dinner. After the meal at which fifteen sat down an impromptu program followed. followed. Gifts were given out to the oldest resident of Kendal present and to the youngest member present. Also to the one having a birthday in December and other gifts. Arrangements Were made for the packing of the boxes for ^ the shut-in peoplp of our area, on Thursday. There was an exchange of gifts. Congratulations to Mrs. M.E. Foster who celebrated her ninêtieth birthday on Sunday, Dec. 12th. She had been visiting ' her daughter Mrs. L. Walsh in Vittoridl. So plans were made by, the family to gather in the Lions Centre in Vittoria on Sunday for the birthday party.' .Her family consisted of six sons and three daughters. Now Hatcher passed away in 1972 and Bertram lives in Tennessee Tennessee and was unable to attend. The others with their wives and families were all there. Mrs. H. Foster plans to stay a week at Woodstock and visit her daughter Judy, Mrs. J. Fonk. Miss C.W. Stewart and Mrs. E. Dobson attended a Christmas Christmas Dinner Party in Bow- manville on Saturday night given by her brother-in-law Mr. George Lofthouse. The Sunday School Concert put on by the children and staff of the Kendal Sunday School was a real success. The children were nicely customed and took ttiéïr parts well. The senior boys sang "Go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ was born','. The senior girls sang "I'm dreaming of a white Christ mas" and "Walking in a winter wonderland" and "It is the night of the dear Saviours birth". Perhaps the highlight of the concert was "The Holy City". It was sung, as a solo by Mr. Mark Wagar accompanied at the piano by Mrs. K- Wood. The éight members pf the staff also put on a number.
