SUTTON a well known resident of Orono, Reg. Sutton passed away at Memorial Hospital, Bowman ville on Thursday, Nov. 25th, 1976 following an illness of two months. Born Feb. 25th, 1900 at Ashford, Rent, England he was a son of the late Alfred George and Ellen Girling Sutton. Coming to Canada in 1914 he settled in Orono where he resided all his life and was married to Ida Frances Elford on August 19, 1931. Employed as foreman at the Dept, of Lands and Forests, Orono for 38 years he retired in 1963. With a keen interest in nature and all its beauty, he loved his garden and flowers, and was a devoted family man centering his life around his home, family arnj church. He was a member of Orono United Church Choir for 58 years and a member of session for a number of years. Surviving are his wife Frances, daughter Joyce, son-in-law Kennedy Gray and grandson David. Mr. Sutton rested at the H.H. Barlow Funeral Home with services held on Saturday Saturday from the Orono United Church with Rev. Basil Long officiating. The many beautiful flowers and donations to the Cancer Society showed the esteem in which the deceased was held. Pall-bearers were six friends and neighbours. Messrs. Messrs. HOWELL ROWLAND After severàl years of declining health, Mabel Rowland, Rowland, a long-time resident of Clarke Township, passed a- way in Marnwood Nursing Home, on Monday, Dec. 6th, 1976. She was a daughter of the late John Holmes and his wife, Maria Jane Otton, born at the family farm oh the Lake Shore Road, east of Newcastle Harbour, and married married to Howell Rowland of the same community, where they farmed until 1947, when they retired to Orono. Mr. Rowland Rowland passed away in 1962. Mrs. Rowland was predeceased predeceased by one sister, Miss Etta M. Holmes of Oshawa and two brothers : Enoch A. Holmes of Toronto and Wallace C. Holmes of R.R. 3, Newcastle, who retired in Bowmanville and later Streetsville. A gracious housewife, loving loving mother and kindly neighbour, neighbour, her outside interests included: Newcastle and, later, later, Orono church groups, Newtonville Women's Institute, Institute, Lake Shore Sunday School, Lake Shore Ladies' Red Cross group and the Lake Shore Home and School Association, of which she was one-time secretary. Mrs. Rowland leaves one daughter, Hilda married to James C. Tamblyn of Orono; one son, William J. Rowland and his wife Patricia of Willowdale, seven grandchildren, grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchild ren. The Service and committal were conducted by Rev. Basil E; Long of Orono with Mrs. A. Cole at the organ. Temporary entombment at the Lang Chapel, Orono Cemetery with interment at Bond Head Cemetery at Newcastle-on the-Lake in the spring. Many expressions of sympathy sympathy and memorial gifts attest to the esteem with, which she was held throughout throughout the Region and assure that she will ever be lovingly remembered. STUTT Ministry of Energy Ontario Darlington Generating Station PUBLIC NOTICE Ontario Hydro hag submitted to the Minister of Energy, a proposal to construct a nuclear generating station in the Town of Newcastle near Bowmanville. The proposal outlines station details, an assessment of the potential environmental impact and the steps taken to discuss the station with the public to date. A Community Impact report has also been submitted to the Minister of Energy. This study examines the socio-economic impact'that the proposed generating station will have on the area. * The Minister wishes to be assured that all citizens have had an opportunity to comment on the proposed generating facility and therefore, is prepared to receive comments on the reports up to March 1, 1977.
