Durham Region^ home day care program has "worked out very successfully," according according to Moyra Brown, co-ord- inator for day nursery serv-. ices. Mrs. Brown made the comment Thursday as the regional social services committee committee approved a replacement replacement for one of the home centres operating in South Oshawa. , She said Oshawa and the Ajax-Pickering area still require require further sites, even though four of the six centres approved by regional council have already been established, established, "The growing number of new homes (in the two qreas) with two» parents working continue to call for increased infant care," explained Mrs. Br'own. The. day care program, she added, is looking to set up the rest of its facilities where and when the opportunity arises. The committee gave the go-ahead, 'to a Stone Street home for the south end's centre after learning the woman, who previously ran the operation out of her Vancouver Street residence, recently had a baby. ■ "So, ' this is a straight replacement and does not add to the number of hoiries in operation," explained Mrs. Brown. Under regional sponsorship, sponsorship, four homes in Durham have been certified as semiprivate semiprivate day care centres. Each is allowed to accept five children under school age, as well as kindergarten kids who need minding for half days. Mrs. Brown said no great demand for the service has been found in the northern and eastern parts of the region. "ft seems the number of working mothers is lower and .the community is able to absorb any children who do need care during the day," she explained. Currently, the Ajax-Pickering Ajax-Pickering area shows the most nêed for the next home centré and Mrs. Brown said her department department is actively seeking a suitable site. \V "Freshcut" Backs Attached Chicken Legs Ideal For Dressing ' Pork Spa reribs Lb. .89 Lb. $1.39 Lb. .89 "Freshcut" Backs Attached Chicken Breasts "Schneiders" 16 oz.
