Kinettes Local horsemen and horses circled the winner's paddock during the past week at the Kawartha with the, first win coming last Tuesday when Junior West drove Lotta Hanover with a winning time of 2.06.2. Junior West returned on Thursday evening to drive Willoway Gay to its ninth win in sixteen starts with a winning time of 2,05.3. Keith West also came in for a win on Thursday evening driving Sun Brier Bob in the eighth race. In the fourth race Sun Brier Rose, owned by J. G. Stephenson of Newcastle finished in second position behind the winner Tham Bo Ann. In the same race Keith West was in third place at the wire with his own horse, Hieland Expo while Jack Williams placed fifth with Harwil Pete. The Slater-Swadron horse, Lilli MacAnn was third in the sixth while Doug Allen's horse, Glory Ann was fourth in the seventh. Saturday Peter Way Sul ton, owned by Frank Conlin of Newcastle placed first in the second race. F. D. Parson owned by Charlie Peake of Orono finished fifth in the fifth with Junior West driving. West returned in the sixth race to finish fourth with Mooreland's Goldie. In the tenth race Junior West was again, in the money this time driving the locally owned horse of David Watkins and Frank Stacey, AramacEgan. Local horsemen have not contained themselves to the Kawartha. At the Greenwood recently Junior West drove Algernon Don to a win. The horse is owned by Nancy West. At Kingston Ambrose Merrick won with his own horse, Chewink while at Belleville Glenn Tennant drove Mini Valley' owned by Russell Merrill to a second place finish and his own horse Valiant Colleen to a third place finish: Kendal Eagles drop to third place The Kendal Eagles ten game winning-streak came to a sudden end this past week-end as they were defeated 8-2 by Oshawa on Saturday and then shut-out 4-0 by Port Hope on Sunday, The Eagles got decent pitching from Eric Moore and Ralph Kennedy in the two games but were unable to produce the necessary runs. They were outhit 23 to 10. Collecting hits for the Eagles against Oshawa were: Fraser Wallace with two, while singles went to Bruce Alldred, Steve West, Bill Robinson, Bill McCullough and John Robinson. On Sunday agianst Port Hope Steve West, Bill McCollough and Jerry Thompson collected the only hits for the Eagles. The outing was part of the Newcastle Game. One other such tour in the Town has been completed with others tbeing arranged later in the year. Local citizens were lacking in the tour but one couple were from the Toronto area. The tour left the Museum at 10 a.m. travelling north on Mill Street, to the school, crossing over Millson Hill ' Drive and then south on Main street to the business section. The tour continued to the mill pond in the south returning via Somerville Drive, Division Division Street, Station Street and Main Street back to the Museum.
