SEWERS FOR ORONO Last Wednesday at a meeting meeting attended by Mayor Rickard, Rickard, Mr. Best of the Town of Newcastle staff and Dr. Watt of the Durham Region Health Unit in Orono the question was asked by Mr. Harvey Partner when sewers would come to Orono. He did not receive any direct answer but it did open up the question for some limited discussion. Later in the Same discussion discussion Mayor Rickard brooched the same question to, which 'Mr. Kay Lycett stated 'we have to have sewers". He pointed out that if the business section burned down they couldn't rebuild. "We have to have sewers", he said. Mayor Rickard referred to planning and stated that only this week he had seen the results of the hamlet study. He said that Orono was being referred to as a hamlet but he felt.it was much more than that. Mr. Best stated' that a tentative date of June 15th had been set for a meeting in Orono when the hamlet study will be discussed. He said the meeting would also include those from Kirby and Les- kard. A joint meeting is also expected to be held for Newtonville and Kendal, Mayor Rickard outlined the water operation stating that in 1980 all residents will be paying the same amount for water wherever the live. He said Orono rates will increase at the present time and then drop dojvn when the overall rate is equalized.
