Groen/The Canadian Statesman Headed for home jBOWMANVILLE -- Jesse Brown of the James Publishing [ Midget team rounds the bases after hitting a first inning ! home run in a Clarington Girls' SIo Pitch League game < against the Clarington Thunder. The home run helped James i to a 25-4 victory. Tigercats come up empty CLARINGTON - It wasn't exactly the start the Clarington Tigercats were hoping for. The local minor football association association lost all three of their home openers against the York/Simcoe Young Bucs in Atom, Peewee and Bantam regular season action in the Central Ontario Minor Football Football League. Despite touchdowns from quarterback quarterback Dave Zmozynski and Jordan Jordan Campbell, the Peewees lost 36-15 to the Young Bucs. The Tigercats had strong running from DJ Allen and good tackling from Jake Doyle on defence. Meanwhile in earlier action, the Atoms lost. 12-8. Clarington had a strong fourth quarter and almost pulled out a win with a 65- yard run from Delon Hubbard to score the team's first touchdown. Quarterback Derek Hubbard had a strong game while the defence, led by captains Riley Johnson and Nick Zaraza, kept the game close. The triple header played at the Tigercats home field at St. Stephen's Stephen's Secondary School started off with the Tykes losing 48-8. Dylan Hewitt was named Offensive Offensive Player of the Game, and Muhammad Abdul Rashid was named the Defensive Player of the Game. Tyke coach, Joe Sziman- ski, has issued a request for more players. Even with the shortage in numbers, the players played hard.
