Growing up, he worked in his father's bakeshop and then started his own nursery and Christmas Tree Farm in 1952, He worked actively in the business up until the day he passed away. As a strong community leader, he served on the Manvers' School Board, Manvers' Township Council, Manvers' Arena Board, Pontypool Park Board, Pontypool Chamber of Commerce, vari ■ ous committees of the Pontypool United Church, the Masons and the Pontypool Cemetery Board. He participated and held Positions on the Ontario Christmas Tree Grower's Association, Landscape Ontario and Ontario Plant Propagators. A true philanthropist, few will ever know how many individuals he aided over the years. We were so proud to have called you Dad. When I look out at the trees they seem to look so sad, As if to say. they just lost the best friend they ever had. You watered, trimmed and pulled their weeds So they could start again from seed. God called you home a year ago today And sadly, from us he took you away Now, a peaceful stream, a gentle breeze A place to rest amongst Heaven's trees We know that you watch us from above And look down upon us with all your love.
