CLARINGTON RECREATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE REQUIRES COACHES FOR THE 2002/03 SEASON FOR THE SELECT PROGRAM AND FOR HOUSE LEAGUE DEADLINE FOR SELECTS - JUNE 5/02 DEADLINE FOR H/L-JULY 15/02 PLEASE CALL WAYNE JOHNSON at 905-435-0969 Ask Your Physiotherapist Telma Grant Registered Physiotherapist "Pop" in my shoulder! Q. Dear Telma, I heard a pop in my shoulder. It really scared me. What can physiotherapy do to help? A. A pop is usually the shoulder coming out of joint partially, usually forwards. We call this subluxation. The first two weeks after the injury you need to ice and practice stabilization exercises, that is, exercises which will hold your shoulder in place. The key muscles to strengthen are the rotator cuff, and lower traps. The rotator cuff holds the shoulder from popping out forwards. The lower traps hold the shoulder blade down. The ice counteracts the inflammation. If you have this injury, give your Physiotherapist a call. Grant Physiotherapy 214 King St., E. Bowmanviile "Count on us!"
