International Year of Older Persons Community Committee - Durham East is comprised of Annabcllc Sissons, Harold Hammond, Mavis Carlton, Sheri Jackson, Sally Barrie, Kent and Doug Farndale and John O'Toole. Committee members want the people of Durham East to get involved with activities recognizing the needs, aspirations and contributions contributions of Ontario's senior citizens. "There has been a $2.6 million investment in our communities to recognize and honour the contributions contributions of Ontario's 1.4 million million seniors. Seniors want to create a lasting legaey to mark the occasion," said Mr. O'Toole. The Office of the Minister of Long-Term Care with Responsibility for Seniors, the Honourable Cam Jackson, is committed to supporting Ontario communities as they plan and organize events to celebrate IYOP.
