Nice words like 'strategic 'strategic strikes' and 'attained objectives' dot the media lines. Tony Blair delights about all this and no casualties casualties (to the United States and Britain). What is the parallel to the Vietnam war? Simply, the folks at home think its something played on a nintendo game and not about human casualties. casualties. And think of other strange parallels. The United Stales can not pay its dues to the United Nations, but it can send 465 cruise missiles falling on the Iraqi people at a million dollars apiece. Canada gives more foreign aid as a percentage of our GDP than does the United States and yet they proclaim proclaim to be the world's protectors. It seems like the military military industry always needs a bad boy on the international international scene. I guess it makes good business; after all they will now have lo rebuild those 465 cruise missiles. Iraq has taken the place of the Soviet Union. But there arc plenty of tyrants in the world - I wonder who we won't like next month? If Iraq is successfully embargoed and prevented from trading in oil, its one real valued commodity, how is that Saddam Hussein became such a military threat between the last war and this one? I heard one of our own leaders say Saddam Hussein "deserved this". Of course, this might be appropriate if the bombs fell on him, but obviously they don't. You can be assured that Mr. Hussein still gets three square meals a day and is well taken care of. Kofi Annan, the Secretary General of the United Nations, a man 1 have known and actually worked with in a group called Parliamentarians for Global, action before he Parliamentary Report by Alex Shepherd took his U.N. posting, looks sadly impotent. No consultation going on here. Don't gel me wrong I am not saying Hussein isn't somebody we want to keep an eye on. But, there just has to be a better way. I have always been amazed that when wars break out nobody ever seems to make an inventory of where the armaments and other tools of mass destruction come from. I doubt whether Iraq genuinely genuinely has the ability to manufacture much, if any, of these weapons. Therefore, if they possess such things, they likely were purchased from a developed military power. No one seems to take much responsibility for that cither. The American people are sadly unconcerned about all of this. Since it doesn't occur on their turf and nobody they know is coming home in body bags, somehow it is not their responsibility. At the same time, the same people in the streets of the United States have placards questioning, "arc you listening", regarding the deliberations against the moral conduct of the president. People seem to forget that less than half of them took the time to vote in the last Presidential election. Is it any wonder legislators and military aren't listening to them. Phillippe Seguin, 45, of 1133 South Middle Road, RR#1, Ruscom Station near Windsor, was convicted convicted of failing to attach the appropriate game seal on two deer, as required by the Game and Fish Act and for unauthorized entry on to private properly. In addition to the lines, Justice of the Peace Robert Harris ordered Scguin's hunting licence suspended for one year and his firearm forfeited. Two white-tailed deer Seguin hunted were also ordered confiscated. Seguin appeared in Ontario Court (provincial division) in Whitby on November 23. The incident took place on November 7th, the last day of the shotgun season for deer in the Municipality of Clarington near Newtonville. Conservation Officers from MNR's Aurora district district office laid charges after investigating a complaint complaint received by Durham Regional Police. "Hunting on private properly without the permission permission of the landowner is trespassing", said Tim Boyd, MNR Aurora's Enforcement' Supervisor. "We are working with our partners lo eliminate this practice and arc seeing some progress."
