Monday night several ladies from the seventh concession concession and the surrounding area enjoyed a pot-luck meal at the home of Louise Statham and Dave Wilson. This is the second annual "meet your neighbour" event at Louise's beautiful home with good food, conversation conversation and company. Thanks Louise. Tuesday night was the ■ last night of bowling for the first half. The standings arc Hampton 53, Solina 45, Hi C's 32, Ncwtonshaw 25, Courlice 20 and My Team 5. Tim Jukes from the Hi C's had a single game of 353 and a 744 triple. It must have cost the Hi C's a lot of money to get Tim on their team. Steve Pleasancc still holds the high triple 781. On Friday afternoon I had a surprise visit from Jim Coombes, the bowling man. He brought me a voucher for a turkey. He said "my team" won it. Low - Bernice Renton. It was good of Ada Richards and Eldon McKay to look after the skunks for the evening. Lucky draws - Edna Manns, Ada Richards, (the Richards should have a good Christmas with so much money), Vivian Barrett, Meta Swain. They had some extra Christmas draws. These winners were: Muriel Bulson, Leone Wright, Win Brown, Rac Shackclton, Verna Bryant, Doreen Brock, Pat Simpson, Ada Richards (again), June Marchant and Fred Watson. Wednesday at noon was the Solina Silver Set's December meeting. Co- Presidents Philip and Margaret Ford welcomed everyone and Philip asked the blessing. Everyone then enjoyed a "pass the parcel" game. Franc Svetcc won the prize. Fred Watson was the lucky winner of a turkey at Seniors Bowling on Thursday. Lloyd and Marion Broome must be proud of the accomplishment accomplishment of their granddaughter, Holly, who will be going to Lyon, France next month for the fifth annual indoor fast- pitch world cup tournament featuring 20 teams. These teams feature the best of women athletes. The Broome family held their Christmas gathering Saturday at Dennis Broome's. Presenting the award during the Annual Sea Cadet Dinner were Bowmanvillc Navy League President Ron Cooke and Rae Abcrnethy. Smoke-Free Contest Winners! Winners in the Durham Region Health Department's "Open the Door to a Smoke- Free Home" contest were announced during a presentation presentation at Cullen Gardens. Almost 2,500 residents entered their homes in the community portion of the contest. Participants chose to make their homes smoke-free by not smoking or allowing anyone else to smoke in their homes. Thirty-six winners were randomly drawn representing different communities throughout the region. Shelley Rainforth of Ajax was the grand-prize winner and received a two-night deluxe package for two at Stc.
