During the last weekend weekend in February they participated participated with other corps in the Kawartha Flotilla in a competition held at C.F.B. Trenton. R.C.S.C.C. 279 placed 2nd in First Aid, 2nd in swimming, 5th in range, 4th in air rifle and 2nd in seamanship. LaPointc, This year, the cadets also had an exchange student student from Heidelberg, West Germany. N.E. Katharina Lambert is a Grade 12 exchange student student at St. Stephen's Secondary School. She is staying with the Mavin family. Katharina said she found out about the Bowmanville Sea Cadets while attending the Santa Claus Parade. This could be an opportunity for other exchange students to be involved in a great organization organization for youth. With the cadets'Annual Review rapidly approaching, approaching, you may see the cadets out on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, practising practising the drill and moving displays. The Annual Review is a Compulsory Event. All cadets must be there or have been excused by their commanding officer. This year once again it will be held at the Orono Arena, on Sunday, May 31st. Guests are to be seated by 1:45 p.m., parade starts at 2 p.m. Lillie Slender Navy League Public Relations Rotary News Two Receive Club's Highest Recognition The Bowmanville Rotary Club presented Paul Harris Fellowships to two deserving recipients at a banquet on May 14th. One of the fellowships was presented to Shirley Cole to recognize the accomplishments of Iter late husband, Al Cole, who was a dedicated member of the club and his community. A second fellowship was given to Norma Welsh in recognition of her volunteer work with the Grandview Rehabilitation Centre, the club's annual Christmas party for physically disabled children, the Santa Claus parade and other bchind-thc scenes community work. The Paul Harris award is the highest honor to be given by the service club. The Bowmanville Club also salutes Nick Baker ol the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise on his successful completion completion of n week-long, intensive leadership training "school for service" held recently in Anaheim, California, Baker was preparing for his role as Governor of Rotary District 7070, a position lie will assume on July 1.
