The Clarington/Courticc Independent, Bowmanvillc, Saturday, April 25, 1998 Page 4 Fifth Crown for CNC Congratulations to the CNC Minor Pccxvcc Toros for winning winning their fifth consecutive O.M.H.A. Crown. That is one heck of an achievement! It was how this team did it. I would like to sec any sports team pull together like this team had to win games without key players since Christmas. They have had a real injury bug. First Garrett Ncmisz broke his collar bone, then Colin Raker broke his thumb. Then alter Christmas, Matt Beech broke his arm, then just before the playoffs started, Colin broke his same thumb again, then Garrett broke his collar bone a second second time, and through this lime, Brandon Beers missed 4-5 games, Steven Nellcs also missed 2-3 games. But somehow they found a way to keep winning. First they ended the season with only three regular season losses, 3 tics and 22 wins. They won two tournaments - Bowmanvillc and Barrie. Then, when the playoffs started, the boys started a little slow against Ajax by losing the first game, then roared back to win the next three to take the scries against Ajax three games to one. Their next opponent was Peterborough. The CNC boys look out Peterborough three games straight. Next the boys played a bigger Barrie team who came into the confines of Darlington Arena and stole the first game, winning winning 5-4 over the Toros. But once again, the Toros put on their game faces, then went out and took Barrie out three games to one, winning their York Simcoc League. The boys dominated Peterborough and Barrie, outscoring them 34-14. Then came a highly talented Brampton Maroons, who once again beat the Toros in game one. But like two of the first three scries, the Toros stormed back to win three games to one to take the O.M.H.A. Minor Pccwcc "AA" title. The Toros travelled to Elliott Lake for the O.H.F. finals. No matter what happens, these boys have done Clarington proud. P.S. Thank you to a great sponsor, C.N.C. Custom Machine, for the hats and jackets. Things h 1 on "Ante" Know' by Ted Denny Cowan Pontiac-Buick Off Road Recovery You may find sometime that your right wheels have dropped off the edge of the road onto the shoulder while you're driving. If the level of the shoulder shoulder is only slightly below the pavement, recovery should be fairly easy. Ease off the accelerator and then if there is nothing in the way, steer so that your vehicle straddles the edge of the pavement. You can turn the steering wheel up to 1/4 turn until the right front tire contacts the pavement edge. Then turn your steering wheel to go straight down the roadway. If the shoulder appears to be about four inches (100 mm) or more below the pavement, this difference can cause problems. If there is not enough room to pull entirely onto the shoulder and stop, then follow the same procedures. But if the front tire scrubs against the side of the pavement, do not steer more sharply. With too much steering angle, the vehicle may jump back onto the road with so much steering steering input that it crosses over into the oncoming traffic before you can bring it back under control. Instead, ease off again on the accelerator and steering input, straddle the pavement once more, then try again. For more information I can be reached at Cowan Pontiac-Buick 905-623-3396, @Jp 7?
