The hall was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We then went upstairs for our meeting. Margaret Ford our President greeted greeted everyone. We sang the Ode. Marion Marion Peters read the minutes from the last meeting, treasurer report and correspondence. correspondence. A letter from our FWIC President was read. We had greetings from the Salvation Army, our food gifts we brought were going there. Jean Taylor announced that Mr. Gordon Gordon Mills MPP would be at Solina Hall, Friday, December 16, 10 a.m. ,to present the "Women's Institute" with the Provincial Access Grant cheque towards our Elevator Access Project. Roll Call was answered. The meeting was then turned over to Pat Best from the East Group. While the group was getting ready for their skit, we sang Christmas Carols with the help of Donald and Joyce Taylor. We were given numbers for some lucky draws. The East Group put on a "skit" called "Mayors Christmas Party". Party". It certainly was enjoyed by all, a job well done East Group. We then had our gift exchange from our secret Pal, we sure enjoyed this, and drew names for next year. Cindy Ashton ended the evening with "Let There Be Peace on Earth." Assistant PRO Ida Bray. Happenings Around Town INDUSTRIAL PAINTINGS - Work by Paul Kovanen entitled "Industrial Paintings" will be on display at the Visual Arts Centre's Mill Gallery in January. A skillful colorist with a romantic sensibility for industrial scenes, Kovanen's oil paintings depict area industrial buildings and their locations. St. Marys Cement and Lasco Steel are among the subjects of his work. This exhibition opens on Sunday, January 22, with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The show runs until February 12. Bowmanville Senior Public School presented its annual Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 20th, in the school gymnasium. The concert featured the school's band and choir, along with many other talented soloists, smaller instrumental ensembles and dancers. In this photo, the band opens the conceit with its first series of musical selections. News from Durham Chapter #181 OES Durham Chapter #181,0.E.S. had a very successful Christmas meeting. All Officers with the exception of the Associate Conductress were present. The Chapter voted unanimously to pack gift bags for clients in Group Homes in this area; which is one of our Worthy Matron's projects for this year. After the meeting 12 members; Meirion Griffiths, Hazel Raby, Peggy Boyd, Gwen Holmes, Ken Sumersford, Sumersford, Eric Gereau, Wayne Martin, Wilson Pring, Linda Thompson, Roy Taylor, Elgin Greenham, and Kathleen Kathleen Martin acted out the 12 days of Christmas with the remaining members members forming the Choir, with Dorothy Taylor at the piano. Mrs. Santa Claus arrived in the person of Florence Tillson who, with much merriment handed out gifts to all. On December 24, Worthy Ma- tron-Linda Thompson, Worthy Pa tron- Ken Sumersford with several Oshawa.
