A joyous holiday feast was held at the home of Annabelle Rickard. 22 members and guests were present at 12:30 p.m. for a pot luck lunch, a tasty tasty start to the December 15/94 meeting. meeting. After an hour of feasting, President President Shirley Brown welcomed everyone and read a poem entitled, "No calendar Needed." Roll call was to name a food that was enjoyed and special for Christmas. Christmas. Guests Jean Holmes and Inez Boughen joined in with members to give a delicious list of special foods. The minutes of the previous meeting meeting were read by Secretary Gail Guthrie and the Treasurer's report given by Lidy Bouwmccstcr. Donations Donations are to be made to the Salvation Army and the Maranatha Church. Shirley Brown thanked Annabelle Rickard for opening her home com plete with a crackling fire and cozy setting for a luncheon. We remembered remembered Barbara Wood, who was able to be with us, with a farewell gift. Barbara and Howard have moved to their new home near Buckhom. We had a moment's silence for Margaret Amott who passed away December 4. A donation in Margaret's name will be made to the Erl and Lee Memorial Memorial Book. President Shirley Brown thanked the members for their faithful work and dedication. Members applauded Shirley for her work as President. Our program of entertainment began began with Dorothy Crago playing a selection selection of favorite tunes on the fiddle, accompanied by Shirley Brown on piano. Collection was taken and will be forwarded to the Salvation Army. The program continued with choosing a wrapped gift from an assortment assortment placed before the group. As each member's turn to choose a gift arrived, they had the choice of an unwrapped unwrapped gift or a gift already opened by a previous member. It was a great lime of fun and laughter. Carols were sung with Annabelle Rickard at the organ. An enjoyable finish for our Christmas meeting. The meeting adjourned adjourned with best wishes extended to all for a happy holiday. Alarma Snowden of Bowmanville celebrated her third birthday by having a conversation with Santa Claus who visited with children at the four comers in Bowmanville on Saturday, Dec. 17. Alanna and her mother, Katie Snowden, were downtown to do some shopping when they decided to make the stop. Arthritis Aquatic Program at Fitness Centre Registration is underway for the Arthritis Aquatic Programme at The Fitness Centre, 49 Liberty Street North, Bowmanville. Classes will be held on Thursday afternoons from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. starting January January 5, 1995. The fee is $35 for the classes one day per week for ten weeks. Exercise is crucial but often difficult difficult for people with arthritis. The Arthritis Arthritis Society's Aquatic Programme provides the benefits of warm water exercise as well as the chance to talk to other people with arthritis. The warmth, buoyancy and resistance of the water can help decrease pain and/ or stiffness as well as help improve or maintain joint flexibility and muscle muscle strength. Participants enjoy a 30 minute aquatic exercise class each week for a period of ten weeks. The ability to swim is not required. Classes are led by aquatic instructors who have been trained by The Arthritis Society to guide adults through the structured exercise programme.
