We had a very good crowd. President Irene conducted conducted the meeting. Secretary Le ta McAllister was away on holidays and Margarette Walker filled in. Ken and Bertha Trew had Jean Smith, Bewdley, and Doreen Churchly, Port Hope, for lunch on Saturday. Inez and Orley Mercer held a shower for their grand-daughter Vicky Fajt on Sunday. Each has returned to school. Alyson left for Brock University on Sunday, It was a very busy week for Suzanne as she had looked after a float for the Orono Fair from Kirby school for past week-end. Howard and Vivian had the Elliott's Elliott's for supper after the shower on Sunday. The group of horses that are at Hodgin's had a busy week-end as there were many riders available. Mr. Brian Goble continued his winning streak again this past week at the Demolition Derby Derby in Orono on Friday night when he won not only the third heat but also was the top driver in the finals between between the last top six competitors. Local residents are displaying top- notch driving^ skills. Dwayne Glasbergen is likewise earning a reputation for his driving skills. A couple of weeks ago Dwayne emerged the Champion of the Thunder class division at the Mosport Raceway. This week he added added to his laurels by winning the second second heat at the Demolition Derby in Orono and thus was eligible to compete compete in the finals. Unfortunately for him, in the finals he Was forced over the boundary markers and was thus disqualified. Mitzi Malcolm and hubby Diane Leaver spent most of their short vacation vacation camping in the Adirondack Mountains in U.S.A. They camped at Lake Placid, climbed the 26 stories to the top of the observation tower on the White Face Mountain and spent some time later in Vermont on the shores of Lake Champlain. They report report an enjoyable holiday. Corrie and I visited Roy and Theresa Werry and girls in Sudbury this past weekend and also called on Denis and Debbie Serafim and boys. We were happy to enjoy dinner out with Theresa and Roy on the oc casion of their 39th wedding anniversary. anniversary. We also bid "au revoir" to Theresa who is leaving next week with her daughter Trudy to spend a week's holiday with relatives in Holland Holland to be followed by a few days in England. Already the trees are starting to turn colour and the brilliant reds of the Cherry trees and the variegated hues of the Maples provide a brilliant kaleidoscope of eye catching beauty. Pleased to welcome another little granddaughter into our family circle courtesy of daughter Mona and hubby hubby Ronnie Sharman of Lindsay. Day- na Marise arrived safely on Monday a.m. September 12 1994 at the Ross' Memorial Hospital, a future playmate playmate for Taya Maree Sharman. See coming events for other details. On Wednesday evening September September 14 a miscellaneous shower was tendered a former Yelverton girl - Miss Joanne Stinson now living in Oshawa. Some fifty ladies gathered in Yelverton Church basement to honour Joanne. Pam Stinson chaired the event and after a few games and the reading of a poem Joanne was invited invited to a specially decorated chair where she was assisted in opening a large collection of useful gifts. Joanne thanked those present for coming and for their presents. She also thanked those responsible for arranging arranging the evening.
