The Electrons came from behind a 3-1 deficit in games to even the series. Then, in the tenth playoff meeting between the two clubs, Bowmanville won 4-2. They had played a pair of ties and one game was rained out. Don McMurter's ground ball eluded Port Hope's usually sure handed Paul Wakely in the last of the eighth, allowing Steve Bums to romp home with the winning mn with two out. Darkness Darkness halted the game. Bowmanville now meets Creemore. ******* The Bowmanville Recreation Department peewee league girls' championship final was played at Central school grounds. Harness drivers from ten countries countries competed in the two-day event, held July 30, 31. When the dust had settled at the Moscow Hippodrome, the fans were cheering the soft spoken spoken young Canadian. The trophy presentation was a proud moment in the life and career of Dube. Winning, however, is not new to Daniel Dube. He makes his living by being first under the finish wire. Although he has only been a licensed licensed harness driver for seven years, Daniel has already made his mark and staked a place for himself in the standardised industry. In 1993, Daniel won the driving title as his hometown Hippodrome de Quebec, finishing the year with 354 wins. This number was only 19 behind the country's leader and winner winner of the Driver of the Year award, Doug Brown. Brown is a man well known to racing fans, and his 1993 title made him a five-time recipient of this prestigious prestigious award. Dube's journey to Moscow to represent his country in the international international driver's competition was a remarkable remarkable and memorable trip for him. The competition was keen and the pressure was on as the starter called the horses for the first heat. The races are all trots in Russia, and the outcome of (he first event was a last place finish for the Canadian Canadian participant. The next start saw the red and white maple leaf take control of the field, and a first place finish got Dube back to where he likes to be, number one. The racing continued, and it was in the final event that Dube captured the drivers' crown. In a heartstopping, heartstopping, come-from-behind win, Dube and his mount, a horse named Final, got away from the starting gate in last place. By the three- quarter marker, they had improved their position to number eight in the ten-horse field. But a late charge and a tremendous stretch drive captured captured the win and the hearts of the Russian racing fans.
