Jordon Nimigon and Tricia Hayes show off the body tracing activity the kids did with chalk on Simpson Street in Hampton. With the two are Thomas, John, Steve and Jeff Payne, and Jake and Sylvia DeSmit The youngsters spent three hours decorating their street with multicolored symbols, logos, and phrases for residents to behold. "Bom to sun," "School is cool," "I love school," and "V.I.P. is cool," were just some of the phrases the kids wrote or printed on the pavement. -- Photo by Laura Richards Anonymous Letter to be Addressed by Laura J. Richards An anonymous letter to the mayor of Clarington complaining that the Regional Regional Government doesn't do anything anything for the municipality will be addressed addressed by the region's Finance Committee. Mayor Diane Harare told regional councillors about the letter she received received a couple of weeks ago on Wednesday, July 6. "If the person only knew how much we get from the region. I could spend four hours talking about what the region has given the municipality," municipality," she stated. "So, I began thinking that perhaps the Finance and Administration Committee Committee could come up with something to advise the residents what it has done for them," she said. She pointed out that the region provides, provides, among other things roads, public public health nurses and policing. But these are things that people take for granted and don't realize which government is providing a particular particular service, she said. Perhaps, its time for the region to do some educating," Mayor Harare said. Chairman Gary Herrema took note and said the committee would look at the idea at the next meeting.. Oshawa Councillor Jim Potticary pounced on the suggestion and asked that the region look at "putting in what each municipality contributed to the region." Councillor Potticary has been continuously continuously suggesting that Oshawa should pull out of the regional union. Scugog Councillor Yvonne Christie Christie said she thought this would be a good idea. Oshawa Councillor Linda Dionne thought the idea was also top notch. However, she asked the committee to not "reinvent the wheel." She noted the City of North York has a similar program which "explains where every last cent has been spent. Let's look to other municipalities which have already done this."
