The Durham County vote followed the provincial pattern pattern very closely, just over 42% voting to adopt the new GFO. This has been one of the bitterest bitterest political battles in some time with feelings running high, and sometimes violent, between GFO supporters, mainly from the Federation Federation of Agriculture, and opponents, opponents, most of-them members of the Farmers' Union. The recently re-opened Corner Store at Courtice has its doors shut again following a fire last Wednesday Wednesday evening that did several thousand dollars damage to the interior.
