The Bortolazzo's had a family barbeque for Phillips 18th birthday on Sunday. Happy birthday Phillip, from a friend. Dave, Mark and Carlo Bortolazzo play in an Oshawa League called Lui's Lightning. They had there first game and won. We were sorry to hear that Gor don Yco, a former resident of our community had passed away. He and his former wife Eva (Collacut) Yeo raised four children here. We extend sincere sympathy to Ted, Linda, Mary and Neil and Gordon's wife Charlotte and family. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bortolazzo, Kylie and Anthony were Saturday evening visitors of Todd, Donna and Kellee Stephens. Miss Myrtle Tamblyn and Mrs. Wilfrid Bowman were Wednesday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Bowman and family, afterwards all enjoyed the McLaughlin Collegiate Production of South Pacific. Please note the change in time. Enfield United Church - Country Quilt Show and Bazaar will be held on Saturday, may 28th from 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. Quilts, Bake Table and Bazaar items. Refreshments with $3.00 admission. The Registration for the Beaveree will be held on May 14 starting at 9 a.m at Area 3. The Beavers will be in full uniform. Our unit is about Health and Breeding. We held elections and our officers are: President President - Paula Pascoe, Vice - Scott Nesbitt, Secretary - Amanda Bouley, Press Reporter - Bryan Holmes. As well, Andrew Kenneth, son of Ken.and Lcann (Patterson) Mercer, Susan Elizabeth, the daughter of Thomas and Laveme (Harris) Kelso and Amanda Dawn, daughter of David and Marlene (Gilbank) Connolly were also baptized. A delicious roast beef dinner was served at the Guiding Banquet. It was held in the C.E. Wing of the Church on Monday, May 2nd. Leaders were, thanked for their year(s) of hard work. Shawn Watson and Shawn Thompson (right) of St. Stephen's Elementary Elementary School participated in the Rotary Club's Green Planet Earth Program last week by helping the local service club members plant hundreds of trees along the banks of the Bowmanville Creek below the Rotary park bridge. The school children volunteered their time and the Ministry of Natural Resources, through the Orono Nursery, provided the seedling trees free of charge. The three day planting was a success with 20,000 seedlings going in a designated sites in Courtice, Bowmanville and Orono. Tree Planting Part of Planet Earth Program The highest score of 92 was earned by Ruby Smith at the Wednesday Euchre Card Party. Ruby also had the Most Lone Hands of six. The second highest score was earned by Betty Kuycr with 78. This was closely followed by Loma Swain with 76 and Fred Watson and John tied with their scores of 75. Muriel Butson was the evenings Most Honest Honest Player. Bernice Wells won the Special. The Draw winners were Ruth Farrow, Jane Slemon, John Kuyer, Bernice Wells, Marie Moses and Daisy Bell. A reminder of the Guiding Parent Association's Yard Sale. Weather permitting it will be held outdoors at the Hampton Community Center on Old Scugog Road. In case, of rain it will be held indoors. The barbeque will also be fired up for those wishing wishing for a bite to cat. This will take place this Saturday, May 14th, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Also on Saturday, at the same place, a Teen Dance will be held from 7-11 p.m. The First Hampton Sea Scouts will be holding this event. Adult supervision will be provided. Les Hemblcy and Mike Suess recently recently took part in the Lake Ontario Secondary School Association's badminton badminton tournament. They took first place in the Men's Doubles division. The Hampton Board of Stewards are looking for volunteers to help with the clean up of the Church's grounds. All ages are welcome. This will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to twelve noon. Please bring your own garden tools. Snacks will be provided. provided.
