They are front, 1-r, Alma Langmaid who installed the officers, Manon Manon Peters, Sec.-Treas., Maijorie Cryderman, Dorothy Pascoe, Eileen Knox, Viola Ashton, Bernice Watson, President Margaret Ford and Lois Yellowlees; back row, Pat Best, Mary Mdlson, Barbara Kapteyn, Blaikie Rowsell, Betty Grant, Donna Barkey, Ida Bray and Jean Taylor. Vice-President. Officers Officers absent for photo were Kay Kelly, Joyce Hancock, Joyce Taylor and Karen Dair. Tyrone Nutrition Nuts 4-H Club had their final wrap up activity on April 9, 1994 at Tyrone United Church. We joined with the Oshawa Lakers club to have a party. Lindsay Woodcock, president for Tyrone, welcomed everybody, introduced the Tyrone Club and handed the leaders flowers. Apple Spiced muffins and orange juice was served for members. members. Mrs. Meszaros was introduced and then the fun began. Each person was given a hard boiled egg and had water-colour paints to paint the egg with. We learned step-by-step how to decorate our Easter eggs. Several different different styles of eggs were created. The Oshawa Lakers handed out awards and 4-H bars. Lindsay Woodcock was able to honour Janey Knowlton for completing her 6th club in Tyrone and presented her with a craft book from the group. Congratulations to all members from Tyrone who completed the "Good Food Fast" unit. > Members were; Mark Benschop, Kathy Cochrane, Janey Knowlton, Meredith Real, Theresa Rutherford, Randy Walton, Lindsay Woodcock, Cynthia Cochrane, Lindsey Fortier, Amanda Rutherford, Stephen Smith, Jen Wilkinson. Leaders were: Ann Pleasance and Nancy Pleasance Sturman. Decorated eggs brought by Mrs. Meszaros were given out in draws. Members and leaders enjoyed Grape Spritzer and brownies to end the morning. On March 7th, the Durham East Drama Club held their first meeting at the Solina Hall. We started with an introduction to 4-H and Drama. Mrs. Leetooze was our guest who acted three stories out and told two others in front of the group. All of the members members had a great time listening to her stories. Election results for the Drama Club Executive were as follows: Leanne Bray (President); Melinda Wotten (Vice-President); Aaron Bowman (Secretary); Sarah Vetzel (Treasurer); Elizabeth Millson (Press Reporter). The 4-H Drama Club Leaders are: Jennifer Bowman, Karen Karen Dair and Dianne Bowman (Jr. Leader). The second meeting was held at the Visual Arts Centre on March 14. Our guest was Brad Carson. He taught us how to have confidence in ourselves while on stage. We did movements of animals, machines and other objects. We also discussed script writing and voices. The third meeting was held at the Solina Hall on March 21st. Doug Dewell Dewell did theatrical games with the group of 11. The club presented their "talking sticks" with a great deal of imagination and enthusiasm. We practiced acting and pretending with our "costumed wooden spoons". On March 28th, the fourth meeting meeting was held at the home of Jennifer and Eric Bowman. The leaders discussed discussed our upcoming trip to see "Crazy "Crazy for You" on April 30, 1994. Dianne Bowman then demonstrated how to make a boy look like a lady. The fifth meeting was held on April 4 at the Solina Hall. Our guest, Mrs. Leetooze, came back to see our "talking stick" stories. The group then practiced its plays for the Achievement Program. Wednesday, April 11, was the Grand Finale - Achievement Day. We performed in front of our spon sors, The Solina Women's Institute. Sarah, Leanne, Katy and Mandy did their play on "Chicken Little". The second skit, "The Three Little Pigs" was put on by Dianne, Aaron, Paula and Darren. The final play starred Melinda, Dianne, Tim, Paula and Elizabeth as "The Beverly Hillbillies". Hillbillies". Dianne gave the Women a brief overview of all the meetings and Elizabeth thanked them for their sponsorship of the '94 Durham East 4-H Drama Club. Our Leaders presented presented the members of the group with achievement plaques. Dianne Bowman Bowman received a painting in recognition recognition of participating in 24 clubs. Bowmanville Seniors Meet At Lions Centre The Bowmanville Senior Citizens met at the Lions Centre April 12, 1994. The meeting opened with singing singing God Save The Queen. Our President, President, Mrs. Vera Downay, gave a reading and' the business was conducted. conducted. Pat Kelly, from the Memorial Hospital, explained Life Line, and how the Lions Club take an interest in the project. Many questions and answers were exchanged. Ruby.Trewin was in charge of the program. She asked Elva Orchard to play a very beautiful piano solo. Dorothy Dorothy Beech then gave us a lovely reading. Games were played by everyone and many prizes given out. A delicious delicious lunch was served, convened by Rae Shackleton.
