Newmarket. With outstanding end-to-end play, the Toros came out ahead 2-1 with goals from Darryl Steele, assisted by Tyson Crocker. On January 20, Everfresh Toros played in the Peterborough Lift Lock Tournament. Their first opponent was Peterborough, with the game ending in a 1-1 tie. The Toro goal was scored by Josh Couture, unassisted. The Toros played Milton in the second game on Friday, coming out Hooper's Emerge With Hard-Fought Win Over Novico Hooper's and Novico met in a house league challenge on January 20 at the Orono arena. Novico ran up the score 2-0 before Hooper's responded at the end of the second period with a goal from centre Andrew Laton. This set the ball rolling rolling for Hooper's, resulting in two more unassisted goals from Laton within the first minute of the third period. period. Final score was Hooper's 3, Novico 2. Two days later, Hooper's travelled to Brooklin to meet Whitby's Accuracy Accuracy Plus in an exhibition game. Fans of both teams were not disappointed. Hooper's enjoyed an edge in the first half of the game, shutting out Accuracy Accuracy while running up the score 1-0 on a goal from Jesse Halik, assisted by Jason Renie. The team started by defeating Markham 5-1. Goal-scorers were Niki Defrietas, Rob Jeffers, Tom Wakefield, Wakefield, Steve Tabb and Damien Jay. Next up, the Oshawa Blackhawks surrendered 8-4 to Bowmanville. Goal getters were Steve Tabb with two. After a slow start and being down 3-0 in the first, thé team rallied to a 5-4 victory. There was solid solid defence by Kurt Kimer, Aaron Pud- lis, Chris Baumhauer, and Mike Leipsig Leipsig helped goaltender Mark Murphy hold Newmarket to one goal the remaining remaining two periods. Wade Peacock fired two goals in the third for the win, with Josh Bon- netta, Chris Baumhauer and Ben Tonks adding singles, while Joel Stok- losa once again demonstrated his versatile versatile talents.
