There will be a consumer hour between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., followed by a roast leg of lamb dinner at 7 p.m. There will be an auction sale following the dinner as well as door prizes and spot dance prizes. It's at the Whitby Curling Club, 815 Brock St. N., Whitby. Registration.time is 6:30 p.m. This year, the guest speaker is Francine Nicholas, a survivor of spousal abuse. FUN FAIR AT ORONO PUBLIC SCHOOL - The Orono Public School will host a Fun Fair on Thursday, April 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the school. There will be games of chance and skill, auctions, bingos, draws, baked goods, caricature drawings, and lots more. The event is sponsored by the school's PTA. Funds raised from this night of family fun will go towards towards the construction of a creative playground. LANDSCAPING DISCUSSED - The Bowmanville Horticultural Society will feature guest speaker Jon Storey, of Greenbelt Services. He will be discussing discussing Landscaping. The Horticultural Society meets April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Trinity United Church Hall. Meetings take place the third Wednesday of each month and visitors and prospective members are always welcome. OPTIMISTS' BIKE SAFETY RODEO ~ The Optimist Club of Bowmanville Bowmanville will be holding a Bike Rodeo at the Canadian Tire parking lot on Sunday, April 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Featured will be a Bike Back Registration and a Bike Tune-Up Clinic sponsored by Canadian Tire. A number of bike safety events will also take place. Prizes will be given for the Best Decorated Bike or Trike. So, be sure to bring out the little folks. There will also be prizes for winners of all events and a number of smaller prizes. In addition, Canadian Tire will donate a new bike which will be offered offered as a draw prize. UNEMPLOYED SELF-HELP GROUP - Help for those who are unemployed unemployed is available each Tuesday morning at the St. John's Anglican Church in Bowmanville. The group meets from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Anyone, looking for work in the Bowmanville, Newcastle and Orono area is invited to attend. Although a facilitator has been hired by the church to launch the project, the group will be directing itself and setting up programs and speakers speakers of their own choosing.
