2 The Canadian Statesman "TVteJieKd*t, Bowmanville, Saturday, April 10,1993 One Returns and Two Leave on Latter Day Saint's Mission There was a lot of excitement recently recently at the Bowmanville Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ- of Latter- Day Saints. The Branch welcomed back Jason Boerstra from a two year mission and also said farewell to two more young men, Adrian Boerstra and Troy Dubeau, who were preparing preparing to leave on missions of their own. There was a special sacrament meeting at the end of February at which the boys and their families spoke to the members of the Branch, Adrian has been called to serve a mission in the Bordeau, France Mission Mission which borders on Spain. He entered entered the Missionary Training Center (M.T.C.) in Provo, Utah at the beginning beginning of March and he will remain there until May 4, 1993 while he studies French. Troy Dubeau will be serving in the Ogden, Utah Mission. He entered the M.T.C. at the same time as Adrian Adrian but left on March 24 to begin his mission. Jason, Adrian and Troy all graduated graduated from Bowmanville High School. The young men, young women and older couples of the Church serve missions at their own expense, mg others. They spend up to two years teaching people about the Church and working in the community. It is an enriching and rewarding time in their lives as they totally dedicate this time to serv- Troy Dubeau and their family members and friends. Jason returned home to /Bowmanville /Bowmanville on February 27, 1993. He served for two years in the Arkansas, Adrian Boerstra Little Rock Mission. This mission takes in part of Tennessee. . Jason says this area of the United States is very hot and humid. Winters are cooler but he didn't see any snow while he was there. He spent last Jason Boerstra summer in the Ozark Mountains where there arc still hillbillics-men wearing overalls with huge, long 'beards. Jason served most of his mission mission in little towns. He found the people people to be very religious and very friendly. He sampled com bread and black- eyed peas and once tried squirrel, which is fried up like chicken. Jason was released a little early from his mission so that lie could have a few days to visit with his brother Adrian, before Adrian left in March to begin his own mission.
