A'r Vj, d ; OBITUARIES Alice Maud Gilbert Widely known for her beautiful paintings, Alice. Maud Gilbert, 87 died in her sleep on Thursday, March 8, 1990, at the Strathaven Nursing Home, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, wnere she had resided since May 1989. She had previously resided at Marn- wood Nursing Home, Bowmanville Bowmanville from 1979. . Daughter of John and Alice Maud Pringle, she was born in Hamilton, and edu-, cated at Hamilton Public School and MacDonald Institute, Institute, Quelph. In 1926, she married William William Leslie Paterson, who. died in 1949. In 1963 she was married to Percy Robert Gilbert who passed away in 1970. A dietician from 1923-26, she had resided in Strathroy from 1926-1930, moving to Bowmanville in 1930 where she resided for 60 years, at 18 Concession Street. Widely read, she was a great letter writer and an avid gardener. She was very . active in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Presbyterian Church, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. Her great interest was painting and in early years her paintings were mostly watercolors, but later she became expert in oils. Surviving are her son' James, daughter-in-law Donna, Brampton three grandsons, ana two great grandchildren. A private family service was held at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, on Sunday with the Reverend Wayne Chatterton Chatterton officiating. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery. Charles Edgar Taylor A lifetime resident of the Orono District, Charles Edgar Edgar Taylor, aged 95, died on Monday, February 5, 1990, in the Strathaven Nursing Home, Bowmanville, following following a short illness. Born in Clarke Township, and educated at Enterprise Public School, he was the son of George Wilson Taylor and Lucy (Harris) Taylor. He was married June 3, 1916, to Edna McGill, who passed away in 1966. In 1967 he was married to Edith Sherwin. A farmer and caretaker of Orono Cemetery, he retired 10 years ago. He was a member of the United Church. An avid baseball fan, he also enjoyed music and performed for many years as an old time fiddler. Surviving are his wife Edith, children Lloyd, Earl, Ross, step-daughter Anna Marie, (Mrs. Enc Thomson), stepson Laurence Sherwin, several loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tne Reverend Fred Milnes officiated at the funeral funeral services held on Thursday, at the Morris Funeral Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville. Mrs. Gladys Brown the organist organist and a long time friend, also played a favorite hymn on the deceased's autoharp. autoharp. Spring interment Orono Cemetery. George James Earl Bradburn A lifelong member of the old Cartwright and the Blackstock area, Earl Brad- burn died suddenly peacefully peacefully in his sleep, on Wednesday, Wednesday, July 12, 1989, in the Port Peny Community Memorial Memorial Hospital, He had been incapacitated since 1973, when he suffered a massive heart attack. Second youngest son of David Wesley Bradburn and Maty Edith Bradburn, he was born at the family homestead on June 4, 1906. He attended Archer Public School until he left to work with his father on the farm. In 1931 he farmed for himself in Egypt on the Herman Herman Hooey form. On June 4, 1938 he was married to Marjorie Whitfield in Bowmanville Bowmanville by the Reverend C.R. Spencer. They settled on the Trewin Scott farm Tyrone but a year later returned returned to form on the family homestead with his brother. In 1943, they bought the Ru- gort Byers farm at Purple Known ns a good neighbour. neighbour. in his early years he had been interested in raising raising and breeding fine horses, horses, and in later years was, known for his Hereford cat- tie. Of Methodist faith and tradition ho was n member of Blackstock United Church. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Marjorie, sons Donald of Peterborough, Ivan of Bethany and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Messrs, Roy Cowling, Glen Grove, Clint Brown. Ronald Brad- hum, Bill Oxloy and Bradley Watson. Many donations and beautiful floral tokens were received in his memory attesting attesting to the esteem In which the deceased was hold.
