Cattafrtatt gtattsmam 62 ICing Street West 623-3303 Bowmanville Your friend, neighbor and business partner since 1854 Yelverton News by H. Malcolm Hampton Brownies Welcome New Mem bers Intended for last week On Sunday, November 6th our new minister Reverend Reverend Paul Ross, who hails from Prince Edward County, preached his first sermon at the three points of the Jan- etville Charge which include Yelverton and Mount Horeb. Reverend Ross had been the minister at his previous Charge for 14 years and will be officiating on this charge for the next 8 months (till June 30/90). Reverend Paul appears to be a very personable gentleman gentleman with a sense of humor and an easy rapport with his congregation. Of course we can be accused of that old saying - that a new broom sweeps clean, but we believe he can make a worthy contribution contribution to our charge in the months ahead. Of course, he must receive the full co-operation of our community community members to be even reasonably successful. Every once in a while we succumb to the urban itch when we feel compelled to visit the city. This week, Corrie and I visited the big city and saw the musical "Hello Dolly" at the Lime light. As to be expected we also checked out the Eaton Centre and associate stores. We have just learned of the passing of Mr. Ken Al- gar, Chairman of Lindsay and area Co-operative Board, following a brief illness illness diagnosed as a form of leukemia. The Algars had just disposed of their farm and assests in the West Guilford vicinity this summer summer and moved down to the Rosedale area. Ken was a very modest affable chap with a keen sense of humour whose presence was welcome welcome at any gathering. He was elected to be Chairman of the Co-op Board following the 1988-89 annual meeting and was presiding in that capacity with efficiency till il] health recently forced him to slow down. Deepest sympathy is extended extended his wife Joan and family. Ken will be sadly missed by a large number of friends and acquaintances. Our Lindsay Board has been hit hard by the Grim Reaper this year - Ken, our former Sect. Owen Moynes, and a former Chairman of the Board, Ivan MacMillan.
