Grace Edith Emily Reid 111 eight weeks, Grace Edith Emily Reid passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 1989, in Memorial Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. Daughter of Alfred and Edith Perrin, she was born in South Hackney, England in 1907, coming to Canada at rm early age. On June 1, 1935 she was married to William Alfred Reid in Clarke Church, Clarke Township. The Reids were the only couple ever married there. In 1948, they started the Kirby General Store, and operated operated it with their family, until retirement. Mrs. Reid was an active member of Kirby United Church in the choir, the Sunday School, and a Lifetime Lifetime member of the U.C.W. She was a member of the board and active volunteer of Community Care, Bowmanville, Bowmanville, a member of the Kirby Quilters, a director of Orono Fair Horticulture Department, Department, and an officer in the Orono and District Credit Credit Union. THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE 1989 LEAF COLLECTION PROJECT Leaves Have Been Banned at the Brock West Landfill Site Municipalities in the Durham Region can no longer dispose of leaves with regular garbage. Therefore, the Durham Region and area municipalities have developed an alternative plan to dispose of the leaves in a composting site. Leaves must be placed in normal household garbage bags and tied with special tags. The tags will be distributed to all households in the Town of Newcastle the week of October 23,1989. Leaves will be picked up in separate trucks dispatched to collect leaves only. The leaf bags must be identified with the tags provided and they must also be placed at the curb away from your regular garbage. The leaves will be taken to a composting site in the Durham Region, rather than a landfill site. Special leaf collection days have been designated by each area municipality. Newcastle will collect leaves in accordance with the following schedule: Leaves will be collected In Newcastle on Mondays.
