I'm told that the proposed zoning change for the Wellington Wellington Street Seniors Condominium Condominium project has met with a lot of opposition. Don't get me wrong. I love this old house nearby. I live in a very reasonably priced bachelor apartment and I will hate to leave but I can understand why this old building should be torn down. This house and the old warehouse behind it are poorly placed on a very big piece of property that must be worth a fortune in terms of its potential for development. development. I'm told that the gentleman gentleman who owns it would like to erect a building that would cater to the elderly. Bravo! You know that is an excellent excellent idea. The reason I like this location so much is 1 because I have lots of light ( I love the light) 2 I'm close to everything ( I love to walk). When elderly people are close to doctors, shopping, museums, banks, etc. they are apt to have much more independence, they would-,' not nave to rely on relatives'.; to drive them everywhere.-. They would be out walking)' which is just about the-." healthiest thing they could)' do. Oh, another thing I love" about living here. I'm close-.' to a beautiful neighbourhood) - of old well kept homes that) tept remind me of the home IS grew up in. I enjoy walking!) m the evening and just feel-*» ing nostalgic. )) I can't help but feel a lit-*- tie selfish when I hope that" this building won't be torn;, down because I have first hand experience as to the very real benefits of living in this location. ■ I'm not from Bowman-, ville so I'm not familiar with- the politics and prejudices, that influence people here.
