Chairman Connie Nelson had displayed a large cardboard cardboard heart on the wall, containing containing within it a large number of synonyms for love. She described her head table as lovers of humanity. General Evaluator, Carson Elliott, has sent crutches to people of the Third World. Toastmaster Lou Maydem, a history buff, has always seen to it that his fellow , man was well served. Table Topics Master Alma Wagner is a lover of humanity and romance who appreciates a dozen roses. In keeping with this theme, the grammarian's word for the evening was "exult", meaning to be extremely extremely joyful, and indeed the Valentine's Day meeting did live up to its name. DON'T FACE THE NEW TAX LAWS ALONE! With the sweeping changes in Ihe tax laws, many Canadians are confused as to how their income tax returns will be affected. At H&R Block, we have the answers. Our specially trained tax preparers will always find you every deduction and credit to which you are entitled. Come to H&R Block this year--we'll get you the biggest refund you have coming. IF THCRI'S IVIR A TIME FOR H*R BLOCK IT'S NOW We've moved to Bowmanville Mall 243 King St. E. 623-6957 Table Topics ran the gamut of Valentine's Day customs and themes. Our imaginations were allowed to run wild with one minute impromptu speeches on such widely divergent themes as Valentine's Day customs on Venus in the year 3000 and Cupid's activities the other 364 days a year. Table Topics Topics were won by new Toastmaster Toastmaster Pat Pingle, a real achievement for one so new. Bravo! Toastmaster Lou Maydem Maydem asked us to toast "learning by doing". Three speakers entertained and enlightened us upon three widely divergent topics. Toastmaster Helen Bryden asked us to assume the role of government clerks while she conducted a seminar. Toastmaster Gerald Brown spoke about fifty years of farm management, and Toastmaster Nellie Vanveld- huizen with the intriguing speech title "My we all Soar like Eagles", recalled her experiences experiences in France. She emerged the winner of the Best Speaker trophy. Toastmaster Toastmaster Randy MacGillivray won the Best Evaluator award and Toastmaster Joan Winter received the Spark Plug trophy for enlivening enlivening the business session. A reminder of the Canada Canada Day Contest to be held in Bowmanville February 21. The contest is open to ALL, not just Toastmasters.
