This sure made for lots of confusion, especially in the cafeteria at meal times. Ottawa had been experiencing experiencing a severe drought, as here, and sure welcomed a heavy rain on Wednesday. One tour to Ottawa Experimental farm on Thursday afternoon, was much enjoyed and their flower beds were quite attractive. attractive. The Friday afternoon afternoon tour of theNation's Capital was quite delightful ana enjoyed by five bus fulls of interested folks. Of course one of the highlights highlights of city tour included the brand new national Gallery, Gallery, which opened May 21, 1988. The materials used in overall construction of the gallery is variegated rose granite, which covers the floors and walls. Most of the building is granite, but the ceremonial facade on south side of building, facing the Chateau Laurie, and Parliament Parliament Hill contains thousands thousands of glass panels. The new Gallery is one of the world's largest Art Museums. Museums. Leaving By Chantal Axelson We're losing one of our best teachers to North Hope Central School in Garden Hill north of Port Hope. Mr. Mills will be teaching grade six there. The new school will be closer to where he lives in Peterborough. Mr. Mills has been teaching at Waverley for four years. In that time he has enjoyed teaching grade six, five and three. The teachers and students students at Waverley will surely surely miss Mr. Mills. Mr. Thompson by Kelly Browne Mr. Thompson, our Vice Principal js taking next year off. He will be replaced in September by Mr. David Gray. Mr. Thompson taught every grade except Kindergarten Kindergarten for twenty years before before he became a Vice Principal. Principal. He is going to spend eight weeks this summer in England, with his wife Jane ana his four sons; nineteen year old Jeff, fifteen year old Greg, twelve year old Jason and eleven year old Jamie, and then he and Jeff will spend a month in France. Mr. Thompson and his family family -love all sports, travelling, reading and enjoying what life has to offer. Mr. Thompson Thompson enjoys photography, windsurfing, downhill swing, swing, education and politics.
