Each student has to write an article for the paper each week. However, there will be a change starting in January. The nine members will be split into two groups. One week group one will write their article while the next week group two will write their articles, We decided this would work better because some of the members don't have the time to do an article each week. There will also be points awarded to the members. If a journalist attends a meeting and gets his or her story done he or she will be given a certain amount of points, but if they don't attend the meetings and don't get their story done they will have points taken away. The member with the most points at the end of the month will be the journalist of the month. I think it will be a fun and challenging new system. LETTERSFROM AUSTRALIA by Scot MacKenzie and Daniel Mongrain In the summer, Miss Pitcher went to Australia and visited a lady named Mrs, Coles. When Miss Pitcher came back she had a tape with her. She let our class listen to it. It had a poem on it called "Remember the Birds". Mrs. Coles spent a lot of time on this poem. After about two or three months our class wrote her a letter. Just yesterday we got a letter saying "Thank you" to Miss Pitcher's class. Mrs. Coles is donating five books to the library which will arrive in the spring. The books are about Australia. Mrs. Snowden was the co-ordinator of the concert with lots of help from other teachers. There were eleven classes taking part. The concert included a Santa, Nativity scene, student choirs, a snowman, jack-in-the-box, clowns, blue fairies, elves, dolls and muçh more. All of the plays were enjoyable, especially the play about Happy the Snowman. This play was about a contest for the best snowman. Happy the Snowman won the contest, but then, a business man wanted to put Happy on T.V. and make millions of dollars. It started out to be fun, but at the end Happy ran away .
