Toros had "win" written all over them. •The Partridge, McCullough, MacKinnon line set the pace at the drop of the puck as they quickly drove into Port Perry territory. Like gnats they buzzed around the opposition net and their relentless pressure paid off as Steve McCullough grabbed the puck behind the net and with a fine setiond and third effort pumped it past the harried goal keeper. Port Perry tied it up three minutes later but almost contemptuously Toros responded in kind by opening the flood gates and dumping three more in before the binszer sounded the first period relief. Scoring in the first: . Tim Powers (Greg Etoçtelahcé, .John DuczmaleWski) -/Brooke Clemens (Chris Ewles, Jim Pithie) ; Jeremy Laird (John Duczmalewski, Tim Powers). Port Perry managed to drive one past Warren Wright to end the period 4-2. Port Perry opened the second by closing the gap temporarily. This valiant effort was answered by a Toro tidal wave as the remainder of the game was spent in Port Perry territory with Bowmanville chargers lined Up to wreak havoc on the Port Perry defense. Counting for Toros: John Duczmalewski (Greg Portelance, Paul Crago) ; Tim Powers (unassisted); Steve McCullough (John Duczmalewski, Scott UniHXfUuf you CjtjjU cW QneetUtfl... The Most fjmMS Baskit w the Wot Id*' It's time to call your Welcome Wagon hostess. Sandra Yates "The Food Terminal" MacKinnon) ; Jim Pithie (Jeremy Laird) ; Tim Partridge (Scott MacKinnon). Not on the scoreboard but equally responsible for this impressive 9-3 win, was Sean Dalton with his hard work at the point. Saturday, Nov. 29 saw a rematch rematch between Toros and Manvers, re-kindling an obvious rivalry that merits watching. The line of Powers- Portelance-Duczmalewski established the game pattern with immediate attack on the Manvers goalie only to have it blocked. Bowmanville began with three lines, a rare treat, as they welcomed back Dan Szuch. Although Manvers scored the only goal of the first it was generally felt that Bowmanville should win the fast-paced heads up, aggressive style they have adopted. Within seconds of the second period, Steve McCullough took the draw in Manvers territory, directed to Jeremy Laird whose relay. ,to Sean Dalton met 1 With' Sean's pàt'en'téd blast, tying' the game. "All looked well - until the penalties began. And they seemed to never end. Forced to play more defensively, Toros had several miscues in their own end resulting in two unanswered Manvers' goals ending the second 3-1; with Toros in a pit. Armed with obvious instructions to rough house Manvers stormed onto the ice after the flood, checking everything in sight. Increduously, few penalties were called on the Manvers warriors who elbowed, charged, hit from behind and slashed, getting up Toro retaliation. Dan Szuch recieved a shoulder injury early in the period. The results of this poorly refereed period was a flood of roughing, fighting, slashing, and tripping as Toros left their game plan and settled scores. After it was over, sixty-four minutes of penalties had been handed out including two Toro game misconducts, leaving Toros with only two lines. The only thing consistent about the referees was their inconsistency. Tim Powers (assist John Duczmalewski) closed the gap but a late Manvers goal put it out of reach for now as the game ended 4-2 for Manvers. "Next time" was the call-word as Toros left the ice. Stick to your style of hockey boys and you will defeat this team.
