Last Wednesday Mrs. Nancy Skelding, of Port Perry and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Skelding, enjoyed lunch with Nan's mother, Mrs. Doreen Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Martin, Woodville, were Thursday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crago. Mr, and Mrs. Wayne Hunt and boys, Pontypool, were Friday evening dinner guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Powell. Mrs. Elizabeth Skelding had the surprise of a lifetime on Saturday evening. When she arrived at the home of her son Bill and daughter-in-law, Mary, Newtonville, her two other sons and wives were there also, Jack and Nan from Port Perry, and George and Joan from Niagara Falls, six grandchildren and three spouses and seven great grandchildren, Mr. Barry Godin and Mr. Raymond Chapman. All were present to honor Elizabeth on her birthday. UNITED CHURCH NEWS On Sunday, December 7, 1986, the lighting of the Advent candles was done by brothers Trevor and David Barr and their mother led in the reading. Mrs. Margaret Cameron of the Mission Committee read the Scriptures and Rèv. Donald Stiles preached the sermon, "And His Name Shall Be Called". Mr. and Mrs. Ted Puk were received as members into the church. The funds will be used to help needy families this Christmas, and the cash ($4,588.66 to be exact) was raised through a gate collection collection at the plant. Adams At the age of 63, Jessie Mildred Adams passed away at Peterborough Civic Hospital, Monday, November November 17,1986. The daughter of Elizabeth and Harry Fraser, she was born at Long Sault June 29, 1923. She was married on June 29, 1946 to Lawrence (Stout) Adams. Jessie was the most gentle and devoted mother to . Donald, Sharon, Mrs. Joe Reader and Janice McHolm, loving grand- - mother to four grandchildren, grandchildren, and loving sister of Marion (Mrs. Herman Webb). Jessie was educated at New Park and Orono schools. Before her marriage marriage she was employed at the Goodyear Tire Company in Bowmanville. Although the last six years were spent living at R.R. #1 Fraser- ville; High Street in Bowmanville Bowmanville had been her home,for many years. , i While "residing in Bowmanville, Bowmanville, Jessie was a member of St. Paul's United Church and the U.C.W.
