For example, there was a time when the deaf were forbidden by law to serve as teachers and when they could not apply to work in the government. The championship championship game was played on Thursday. The Headers played played the Whizzers. The final score was 3 -1 for the Headers. The goals for the Headers were scored by Scott Anderson Anderson - 2 and Collin Taggart -1. Adam Bothwell scored the only goal for the Whizzers. Congratulations to both teams who had an excellent game. The next houseleague sport will be Dodgeball. Some people might ask how do you play Dodgeball? Dodgeball is a game where you try to hit a player on the other team with a ball below the waist. Once you are hit you go into the King's court and try to hit the other team while you are in there. We hope everybody enjoys enjoys Dodgeball as they did enjoy soccer. Career Week by Chrystal Whyte Last week was Career Week at Waverley Public School. Mrs. Pitt and Mrs. Anyan our Librarian worked very hard scheduling different people with different careers. From Ontario Hydro, Mr. Bernard from Toronto came to talk about electricity with the help of his display. Charles Trim from Goodyear came with two video tapes and told us how many different things Goodyear Goodyear makes. For the Primary grades Mrs. Garrett a nurse from Memorial Hospital In Bowmanville, talked about what she does. No one in the world could talk about every career but there is a video tape for young children called Library Bd. This year Mrs. Moffat's Moffat's class is doing creative writing and designing books. They are spending three weeks on this subject. They have already watched a film on Judy Blume, author of Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing and Superfudge. Looking for books :by authors they, have enjoyed and our young Waverley 1 authors was ■ another activity they engaged in. They are doon going to define the characters, setting, plot, climax and the conclusion conclusion to their books. The class also discussed about illustrations illustrations and used story boards to plan individual stories. One half of the class goes to the library and works with Mrs. Anyan while the other half stays in the classroom. Mr. Stewart, Vanessa Stewart's father, is an author who is going to visit. By the third week they will have their good copy done and they will do all of the following: the student will share the book with the class, share with a primary class and display book in school library. After they will use it as a gift or keep it for themselves.
