Durham Building Supply Toro Bantam 2's were undefeated undefeated last week in two come- from-behind matches that are becoming the trademark for this team. Like hot water systems they work best under pressure. Just score a goal on them and watch this team get hot! Omemee - On October 27, Toros travelled to Omemee in the fog with a much depleted team due to injuries. On the ice the fog continued during the first period as Toros' two lines took turns driving back the Omemee attack. Warren Wright kept the team above water with several outstanding outstanding saves. Two Toro penalties intensified the pressure and despite the strong defensive work of Paul Crago, Scot MacKinnon, MacKinnon, Jim Pithie and Sean Dalton, Toros dropped 1-0 at 2:26. Even though Toro supporters supporters offered friendly advice to the refs to improve their questionable calls, strange penalties dominated the second period. Toros, incensed incensed at the beating they were taking from Omemee and the refs, came alive sending wave after wave of attackers into Omemee territory only to be frustrated by a hot goalie. At 8:06, Omemee captured the puck behind Toro defence sending the game ahead 2-0. Finally, at 2:18, Brooke Clemens Clemens took a pass from Paul Crago and Tim Powers and let a blast go from the blue line to end the period 2-1. Penalties (11 in all) interrupted interrupted the action of the third but not the tension. Despite the courageous checking and sharp shooting of the forwards it was obvious that Toros would go down to defeat. With one second left on the clock, Tim Powers took the face-off in Omemee's end as parents prepared to leave the rink. For those who blinked, Tim drove the dropped puck at the net while the steady hands of John Duczmalewski re-direc- ted it past a surprised goalie to tie the game 2-2 at the buzzer. Instant reply was definately needed here! Congratulations boys for a fine effort and an exciting finish! Orono - A full Toro team arrived at Darlington Saturday Saturday November 1, and what a difference the third line made! Tim Partridge, Dan Szuch and Greg Portelance added the necessary balance. The first period ended in a scoreless tie as both teams battled for supremacy - Orono having the greater size but Toros the fàster forwards. ■ "However; the'second period was a different story, Toros were called for 9 penalties and Orono for 5 resulting in some confusion on and off the ice. At 12:23, Orono found the puck behind our defence and made the mistake of scoring first. Never do that! Toros responded responded in typical fashion, at 6:36, Tim Powers re-directed the face-off to Brooke Clemens and Greg Portelance drove it home to tie the game. Not satisfied with one, Greg Portelance Portelance hit again, assisted by Paul Crago and Dan Szuch. A minute later Brooke Clemens 'grabbed one for himself, himself, assisted by Scott MacKinnon MacKinnon and Chris Ewles. Tim Powers (assists Greg Portelance Portelance and Dan Szuch) rounded It's the icing on the cake. After being attracted by the smart styling, intrigued by the brand new features and impressed by all the dramatic improvements...you'll be delighted by the price. This year, John Deere has introduced introduced an entirely new line of 100 Scries lawn tractors. All are priced substantially less than the 1985 models they replace. Not on the score board but equally responsible for this impressive impressive win with their tenacious checking and relentless drive were Jeremy Laird, and Steve 'McCullough.
