August 20. 1986 17 By M.L.Fenk Last Thursday, Mrs. Isabelle Trim with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Simpson and their grandson Michael, all of Oshawa enjoyed the day at the Elora Gorge and later visited the shops in the town of St. Jacobs. On Tuesday, Mrs. W.J.C. Bond with her daughters Mr. and Mrs. Randall Reid, Allison and Andrew and Mrs. Robert Bond and Michael, all of Toronto spent the day with her sister Mrs. Jeanette Layng and Dyana. On Wednesday, Mrs. Isabelle Trim, Mrs. Margaret Todd, Mrs. Gloria Todd and Mrs. Rowena Tizzard were among the many who enjoyed the bus trip sponsored by New- tonville Women's Institute to Midland. They visited the Martyr's Shrine and Ste. Marie Among the Hurons Museum. Visitors during the week with Mr. and Mrs. Llew Hallowell were Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Caswell, Marie ha and Shaughn of Newcastle, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Fairbank of Toronto, Mrs. Ardron and her son Allan of Toronto and Mrs. Brian Caswell. Mrs. Bernice Stark visited Wednesday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Trim. In the evening, Mrs. Isabelle Trim visited with Dorothy and Bert. On Thursday, Mrs. Dawn Brettell spent the day in Toronto visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Hartley Brettell. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bamsey, Ralphie and Andy were supper and evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Brenton Farrow on Thursday to celebrate Brenton's birthday. birthday. Happy birthday, Brent! On Thursday evening, Mrs. Isabelle Trim attended the Orono Horticultural Society Flower and Vegetable Show held at Orono United church. Vacation Bible School was held at Newtonville United church last week. Attending from Starkville were Mary, Sarah, Maia, Brianna and Dana Higgins, Mark and Steven Foster and Christa Robinson. Mrs. Winnie McKay and Mrs. Pat Windatt visited Friday morning with Mrs. Edna Dobson. On Friday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stark visited in Orono with Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Tamblyn. Mrs. Edwin Flak of Toronto spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Brettell and Susan. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Fonk and Peter, Mrs. Edna Dobson and Mr', and Mrs. Ross Stutt spent the weekend at Lake Bernard. Visitors on Friday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hill of Sundridge and on Sunday afternoon were Mrs. Dianne McMahon, Cori and Mark of Oshawa. Mrs. Rossiter of Mississauga was a supper guest on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Reg Windatt, Christopher, Nathan and Benjamin of West Lake near Picton visited Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. John Windatt. Mr. Clarence Morton, his sister Mrs. Ruth Behnke and his daughter Mrs. Valera Minard, all of Rochester visited from Tuesday until Thursday with their cousins Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Farrow. Mr. Clarence Burley of Cowanville was a supper guest on Thursday of Mr. and Mrs. John Windatt. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Caswell returned home on Friday after spending almost 3 weeks travelling through the Gaspe region of Quebec and along the Cabot Trail, Cape Breton Island. On Saturday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Caswell, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Higgins, Mary, Sarah, Maia, Brianna and Dana and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Caswell, Marisha and Shaughn of Newcastle attended the Caswell family reunion and barbeque held at the home of Mrs. Iris Lambier in Kendal. Mrs. Rowena Tizzard of Oxford, Nova Scotia spent a couple of days the first of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Todd and family. On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Bernice Stark, Mrs, Ruth Robinson and Mrs. Helen Konzelmann visited with Rowena and Gloria. Congratulations to Miss Judy Farrow! On Sunday afternoon atLakeview Park in Oshawa, the winners of the 3rd annual Oshawa Salmon Derby were announced. Jody won 2nd prize in the Youth Anglers, Division by catching a 30.12 lb. Chinook Salmon in Lake Ontario. Congratulations also to Mr. Terry Riggers of the Sixth Line who won 5th prize in the Coho Salmon Division with an 11.50 lb. catch. On Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Souch attended a corn roast held at the home of Mr. Eddie Carscadden, Kendal. This get-together was to also celebrate Eddie's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Souch attended a beef barbeque on Saturday evening held at the home of Helen and Rod Carveth in Orono. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sinclair and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Robinson spent the weekend in the Haliburton area and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Aldridge of Bowmanville at their resort on Haliburton Lake. On Saturday, the Browns- dale Girls Bantam baseball team played in a tournament at Memorial Park in Bowmanville. Bowmanville. They won the championship championship after playing 5 innings overtime. This must have been very exciting baseball. Tammy and Jody Farrow are 2 of the players on the team and their father Ron is the coach. Congratulations to the team! On Sunday, Mrs. Joan Murphy went to her daughter and her husband Mr. and Mrs. Harold McColm, Kathleen, Ginny and Patrick's home in Thornhill for a few day's holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stark, Christopher and Shannon of Knoxville visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stark. Mrs. Isabelle Trim visited with Mr. and Mrs, Bert Trim on Sunday evening. Church services were held on Sunday at Shiloh United. Rev. Bryan Ransom gave the Sacrament of Communion. An official board meeting will be held at Shiloh United on Wednesday, Wednesday, September 10th. On Sunday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Rusty De Witt of Trenton and Mr. Al De Witt of Smith- field and his girlfriend Miss Kathy Darling visited with their uncle Mr. John De Witt. Mrs. Maria Higgins and Miss Betty Higgins of Toronto were supper and evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Higgins, Mary, Sarah, Maia, Brianna and Dana on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Brenton Farrow visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Farrow, Newtonville. On Sunday, Miss Tammy Farrow with Miss Robin Lambert and the Jim Hale family of Newtonville spent the day in Toronto attending the B.F.I. picnic.
