The game was tied at seven until the Port Hope team pulled ahead and won the game 14 to 7. Brad MacCrimmon pitched the first six innings and Brad Lambert came in to finish the game. Getting hits for Kendal were Brad MacCrimmon, Anthony Barnoski and 'Brad' Foster with 'two each, while Jason Carroll, Mat Stephen son and Marty Robinson got one apiece. The K's home opener on Saturday against Belleville again ended in defeat with a score of 18 to 7. Jeff Edmundson started on the mound for the Lakers and Eric Moore was the starting pitcher for Kendal. The Eagles took advantage of the Lakers' errors early in the game to build up a 14-0 lead after four innings. Joe Werheid relieved Jeff Edmundson in the top of the seventh inning to finish out the game. The winning pitcher was Eric Moore of Kendal, The big guns at bat for , Kendal were: Kirk Woodward, Woodward, Mike Robinson, Eric Moore and Fraser Wallace. Scott Michelson, Doug Rickard and John Robinson played well for the Lakers in a losing cause. Fire Prevention Poster Winners Announced A young Bowmanville artist artist has been chosen as the designer of the best Fire Prevention Week poster in the Durham Region. Melinda Broome, a student student at St. Joseph's School, was chosen as the overall winning poster in the girls' category. She was also selected as the winner of the girls' competition for the Town of Newcastle. Jn the boys' category, Brett Rogers, of Newcastle Village, received the top award in the town's poster competition, Brett is a student student at Newcastle Public School. OSHAWA RACER -- Randy MacDonald crammed the start of his 1986 stock car racing season, final exams for his engineering degree and the launch of a career all into April. The 23-year-old from Oshawa handles a tight schedule as well as he races the Buick Regal which earned him NASCAR North Rookie of the Year honors last year. "It's work to me now", says MacDonald, referring to his upcoming 30-race schedule, which includes running a Jr. Hanley-prepared Chev Camaro in the Molson Export 200 at Cayuga Speedway, May 31 - June 1. "I'm prepared to work even harder at it this year," he adds. MacDonald starts the 1986 Coors Tour in Vermont the same weekend he begins final exams for his chemical engineering degree at University of Waterloo. "As a rookie last year, I had to always start at the back of the field. I had plenty of heat race wins, finished fourth in the feature at Stafford, Conn., and managed 13th overall in NASCAR North points and Rookie of the Year which was my main goal."
