The Commission and the Police Association will start negotiations for the 1986 contract this month. Sympathy to Alma and Ross Duff and their family Graham and Barbara Duff, Jeremy and Karen and Marilyn Duff on the passing last week of Alma's mother, Mrs. Oscar Graham. The funeral service was held on Saturday from the Wagg Funeral Chapel, Port Perry. Sympathy also to Tom and Marg Horton and family on the passing of Tom's sister, Miss Horton of Simcoe area, who passed away during the holiday week. During the holiday season many very interesting events took place. The Christmas concert at the Cartwright Central Public School was very well attended. The program program which consisted of musical selections, both vocal and instrumental, skits and square dancing, was very well performed by the students. Local churches had several special services which were very meaningful to the large numbers of worshippers who attended. Congratulations to Bryan and Denise Wolfe who recently recently graduated from the Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, with their Doctor of Chiropractic Degrees. Bryan's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Wolfe and Denise's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Perron of Montreal, attended the Convocation Exercises. Congratulations. The Diabetic Association wishes to thank all who supported supported their recent campaign and also the canvassers who worked so hard in this worthy cause. Grant and Barb Larmer, Roxanne, Erin and Ryan enjoyed a week of skiing and other winter activities at Harbour Inn on Lake Simcoe during the holidays. Blackstock Lions Club will be holding an Information Night on January 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Recreational Centre. They are now five years old and wish to share past accomplishments with you. They will explain who they are and where they are going. Everyone is welcome to attend. Coffee and donuts will be served. New Year's Day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson were Mrs. Edith Pouisen of Carmen, Manitoba; and her cousin Gerald Graham of Sunderland; Dr. and Mrs. Jack Marlow of Dundas who visited other local relatives as well. A note to mark on your calendars: the annual meeting of the Fair Board is scheduled for Thursday evening, January 30 beginning with a pot luck dinner at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Art Drisdale, well known horticulturist horticulturist and traveller. A note to the readers who are in the sunny south for the winter. Today is a picture- perfect winter's day of the sort that appears on Christmas cards and travel pictures. Days like this certainly make up for the terrible fall weather that plagued Ontario for many weeks. The annual Men's Bonspiel was held on Monday, December 30th, at the local arena. After many games of fine curling, the winners emerged as follows: 1. Robert Archer, Luke VanRyswyk, Merrill VanCamp and Roy Bradburn. Club President Harold Wright presented the winning team with the Club Trophy and their prizes. Only a quarter point behind was the rink of Dale VanCamp, Merlin Suggitt, Cecil Ford and John Coyle with Ron Vice, Brian DeJong, Dave Larmer and Grant McLaughlin taking third prize. The youthful team of Brent McLaughlin, Robert Umphreys, Shawn Umphryes and Jeff Byers came up fourth prize place. It was a successful successful event from all reports. ■ Many from this area attended attended the New Yèar's Reception held by Allan and Moira Lawrence and the Durham Northumberland Progressive Conservative Association in the Old Town Hall, Port Perry on Sunday afternoon. All in all it was a delightful event and a great way to begin the new year. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ford of Meaford spent some holidays with their daughter, Janet and Dale VanCamp over the Christmas week. John Larmer of Fredericton, Fredericton, N.B., spent a week over , n the holidays with his parents, Ralph and Peggy Larmer and visited other relatives and friends in the area. The family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ferguson held their annual gathering at the Nestieton Hall on Sunday, December 29 when over forty members of the family enjoyed enjoyed a day together. Marion and Glenn Larmer hosted the annual Larmer New Year's Day gathering with nearly thirty family members attending. On New Year's Day, the annual Mountjoy-Ferguson family gathering was held at the Recreation Centre with a good number of relatives attending. Part of the afternoon afternoon was spent skating at the local arena. Nancy Belyea of Toronto and her mother, Mrs. Hazel Belyea of Bronte spent a few days visiting relatives in this area. New Year's Day dinner guests of Gerald and Joyce Kelly and girls were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kelly; Mrs. Alberta Tiers, Bobcaygeon; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Walker; Mrs. T. Gilmour of Lindsay; Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Hargrave, Argyle. Mr. and Mrs. Harold McLaughlin and Mrs. Wilbur Toms spent New Year's Day with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Slemon, Susan and Fred at a family gathering at their home at Haydon.
