Last weekend seemed a busy one in the area. The World Day of Prayer Service at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church on Friday evening was well presented and well attended, according to those who supported the event. Some locals attended the Orono and District Credit Union 30th annual meeting at the Centennial Hall, Bowmanville. Bowmanville. Pleasant fellow dinner guests make it an enjoyable affair. Mrs. Leila Werry, Treasurer-Manager, retired from that position and was presented with gifts by Robert Allin on behalf of the Union. The Barber Shoppers also presented their annual program program at Eastdale Collegiate on the weekend and since Ross and Stanley Allin are members, many locals enjoy that presentation. On Friday, Mrs. Wilda Johnson entertained her first floor clinic co-workers to a gourmet dinner. Daughter Glenda Rumbles, Krista and Mark, of Norwood, were also weekend guests of the Johnsons. Last Wednesday, Mrs. Pauline Storks attended the Ganaraska Annual Meeting at the Greenwood Towers, Port Hope. The election of officers was held and Pauline is Vice- Chairman. On Thursday at the Ganaraska meeting members met with Nature Conservancy representative Charles Sauviol and Mrs. R. K. Scul- thorpe of the Willow Beach Naturalists, who are helping with funds for procuring Carr's Marsh. Another marsh in the Rice Lake Area is the next project of the Ganaraska Conservation and funds from interested companies and individuals individuals are most welcome. Mrs. Gladys Wood spent the weekend in Oshawa with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wood. On Friday evening Mrs. Gladys Bonathon and Mary Margaret accompanied Mr. and Mrs. George Buckley to Cobourg where they enjoyed the live theatre presentation of Little Orphan Annie. Mrs. Elizabeth Oakley, Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia returned home Saturday after a busy ten days with her mother, Mrs. Grace Reid, and relatives in the surrounding area. On Sunday Mr. Lloyd Pacey and wife Mary of Winnipeg, arrived to visit his mother, Mrs. Gladys Pacey.
