By Bob Sheridan On Thursday night, backed by the steady goaltending of Junior Green, we tied the Antiques 7 - 7 in the Donevan Recreation Centre. Oshawa jumped out to a 2 - 0 lead before.George Sainsbury, playing on a line with Hugh German and Siegi Rohr, fired his first goal of the evening. Dan Girardi took a pass from Roger Shingler and fired a perfect low shot from the point that caught the far corner just inside the post. The Antiques then rallied for three goals and the game appeared to be beaded for a repeat of last Friday's rout. This, however, was not to be the case. Bob Sheridan, playing playing on the other line with Ron Rushak and Bob Deblois, was given a perfect pass on the killing ground. At a slight angle from twenty feet out, he hit the corner right along the ice. George Sainsbury then fired another blast that the goaltender never saw. The Antiques took a 6 - 4 lead. As a line change was proceeding, Bob Sheridan outfought a defender at the side of the net to slide the puck back to Hugh German who was racing in from the bench. Hugh fired a perfect blast past the bewildered bewildered netminder. George was then set up by Hugh and Siegi on the same shift to score his third goal of the evening and tie the game. The Antiques were determined determined to win the contest and rallied for a goal mid-way through the third period. With only seconds showing on the clock, Hugh German outfought outfought the goaltender and a defenseman behind the goal to bat the puck loose into the crease where Bob Sheridan tipped it into the open net. The two big men on the team had again combined to snatch a tie from the jaws of defeat in the eleventh hour. We showed up for this game with only nine players and the . Antiques arrived with twenty. They graciously loaned us Paul Gibbon and Ron Wright who played a spirited game on defense against their erstwhile erstwhile mates. Ron Rushak, Bob Deblois and Siegi Rohr all had several fine chances on goal in this game but were kept from scoring by good defensive work and the Antique goaltender, goaltender, Bill Braden. Royalview Glass Leads Spencers In the final of the Commercial League, defending champs Royalview Glass defeated Spencers 4-3 in double overtime to go up 2 games to 0. Paul Kennedy scored 2 goals for Royalview with singles going to Dave Boyce and Dan Armstrong. Assists went to James Patersen, Dan Armstrong, Barry Boyle, A1 Urbas. Charlie Andulsek, Paul Leslie one each. Scoring for Spencers - Steve Simpson, Jordie Bowen and Joe Hollister; assists went to John Hogarth, Kevin Sanders and Doug Ritchie.
