Members of Bowmanville Women's Institute met Thursday, February 7 at Trinity United Church Hall. The President Mrs. H. Millson opened the meeting with the members singing O Canada,' The Institute Ode and repeating repeating in unison the Mary Stewart Collect. Mrs. H. Amacher was the pianist. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Secretary - Treasurer Mrs. L. Tomlinson. Financial report was given. An invitation was received from the Hampton Women's Institute by our branch to attend their meeting Tuesday, March 5 at 1:30 p.m. Short course at Maple Grove at 7:30 p.m. May 27. Mrs. M. Wiseman showed the members her Bicentennial Courtice Secondary School 1985 -1986 Medal for citizenship, which. she received recently. Roll Call - Name a household household chore I dislike the most, was well answered. Mrs. Millson turned the meeting over to Mrs. M. Flintoff, Convenor of Family and Consumers Affairs Program. A sing song was lead by Miss Pearl Leach and enjoyed by all. Our guest speaker was Miss Barbara Weese, specialist specialist with Rural Organization Services. She spoke on Meat Matters. It was very interes-. ting and informative. Miss Weese also told us about the Ten Commandments of a smart shopper. Local Speaker - Lois McLeod, Youth Work Developer Final details have been put in place for the 23rd Annual Annual Meeting of Oshawa Presbyterial United Church Women, which will be held at Kingsview United Church, Oshawa, corner of Adelaide St. East and Wilson Rd. North, on Tuesday, March 19, 1985, registration at 9:15 a.m. Three hundred name tags are waiting for the identities identities of women expected to congregate from the area of Pickering to Newtonville to Port Perry. Mrs. Lois (Van- Camp) McLeod, Orono, Youth Work Developer for Bay of Quinte Conference, will be guest speaker in both the morning and afternoon afternoon sessions, when she is expected to relate International International Youth Year to the church and youth. Since being appointed Youth Work Developer Lois' job has been to research the needs of youth in this area, to encourage and plan youth participation in Church activities and to develop youth leadership. A warm welcome by Rev. Jack Irwin and Rev. Audrey Fisher was received when the Oshawa Presbyterial United Church Women executive met on February 5, 1985, at Kingsview Church, Oshawa, with President President Pat Beach, Greenwood Greenwood in the chair. Asian Connection Funds Needed Ann, Tane, Treasurer, indicated indicated that money needed to complete the Asian exchange exchange visit in May 1985 is slowly coming in from local units. After having assisted in making two Korean women visitors welcome here last Fall, Shelley Wright, Harmony United Church, will travel to Korea as part of the celebration of 100 years of Protestant Christian witness in Korea. Upon her return from Korea Shelley will accept invitations to share her unique experience with local groups. A very good percentage of Annual Reports received on time from U.C.W. units assisted executive members members in planning and problem problem solving. Scanning the U.C.W. "Guidelines" manual manual resulted in some recommendations recommendations for the committee committee involved in revising the Guidelines." The January Workshop for Committee Convenors was evaluated as very successful in content and attendance. Coming Events U.C.W. Conference Annual. Annual. Ted Davey as guest speaker and ministry of music by Linda Jewell. The Young Women's Seminar will be held at Harmony Church, April 16th, 6:30 p.m. dessert, 7:00 p.m. meeting with Ian Howard Howard of "Council on Mind Abuse" (COMA).
