UCW Meeting in Tyrone Mock Parliament Held at Courtice Secondary Grade 10 History students at Courtice Secondary School had a practical lesson in parliamentary government by participating in a Mock Parliament on Monday, November 26. Several Directors of the Lindsay Branch of U.C.O., a carload of Directors from each of Durham Farmers Co-op (Orono) and Peterborough Peterborough District Co-op and their managers motored to Trenton on Wednesday, Nov. 21 to attend the Zone Three Fall Zone Meeting of United Co-operatives of Ontario, Zone ,'hree stretches from Beaverton Beaverton Coop to Gananoque Coop to the East and there were 42 of the 52 possible voting delegates delegates present from the area. The meeting was jointly chaired by Group I Director Ernie Miller and Zone Three Director Harvey Malcolm. In attendance at the meeting, explaining the various aspects of U.C.O.'s financial plan of arrangement in considerable detail were the new Interim C.E.O. and Corporate Sect. Mr. Ernie Miller, having having indicated earlier that he will not be letting his name stand for a further term as Group One Director for the past nine years, was paid tribute tribute for his major contribution contribution in that capacity and appreciation given. The Secretary of the Napanee Branch of U.C.O. Clark Martin was congratulated congratulated on being one of the two joint secretaries chosen this year as Distinguished Secretary Secretary of the Year. They will not be taking these to Christmas Dinner at Tyrone, but instead a box will be placed in the Church Vestibule Vestibule and gifts of food can be placed there from now until near Christmas. We also have an appeal from the Men's Hostel, Oshawa for bags of potatoes, carrots, turnips, onions and apples, packages of rolled oats, flour, sugar, rice, macaroni and dried soups. Frozen foods will also be appreciated especially turkeys. Christmas baking such as cakes, cookies, candies and nuts are other suggestions. Of course, anyone may donate to these causes not only U.C.W. members. Enniskillen U.C.W. will be joining Tyrone U.C.W. on December 12th in Tyrone Church Hall at 12 noon for their Christmas Party. Senior Citizens' Dinner Report November 22nd, about 56 of our "Over Sixty" friends from Enniskillen and former Enniskillen residents enjoyed a dinner sponsored by the U.C.W. at the church hall on Wednesday noon. It was a most pleasant time of visiting, good food, good program of worship and carol singing and humorous reading. Several cards were signed by everyone, everyone, sending good wishes to those not able to be there. A vote of appreciation was given to the kitchen engineers. Our President Merle Avery welcomed everyone. Edgar and Annie Wright greeted the guests at the door. Everyone received a suitable lapel pin and a treat of home made candy, a gift from the Guides.
