An outdoor outdoor service was held at 11:15 a.m. with Rev. Dale Davis presenting art interesting message on Father's Day. After the service a pot luck dinner was partaken of by the large attendance. Games were enjoyed by the youngsters and some not so young. Retiring Superintendent Robt. Mairs and wife, Carol were presented with an appropriate gift - the presentation made by the new Superintendent Superintendent Richard Mac- Kenzie. Reception and Dinner Attended On Monday evening Lawrence and Gwendolyn Gwendolyn Malcolm of Nestleton attended a reception and dinner held to honour Lenore Hoar on her retirement as a primary and junior consultant with the Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education. More than two hundred co-workers and friends were present on this special occasion held at the Dutch Oven Restaurant at Orono. Appreciation Dinner Enjoyed Some 25 volunteer canvassers from points within the Township of Scugog were on hand for the delicious pot luck dinner hosted by the Scugog Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society held on Wed. evening, June 13 - at the, lovely home of Campaign Campaign Chairperson Doris Taylor of Port Perry. A cordial welcome was extended bv President Sandv Mc- Cully. After a delightful "gourmet" dinner, Durham Durham North Unit Chairman Chairman Allan Heddle, Port Perry, spoke briefly about the educational aspect of the Unit - followed by Mr. Jirn Malcolm, District Director Director Ontario Division of Oshawa - presented certificates to those serving 20 years and over and Caduceus pins to others with lesser service. Mr. Ross Metcalf, the music consultant for the Northumberland Northumberland Newcastle Board of Education, sang two solos which we enjoyed very much. Rev. Rutherford spoke to the children on Joel who was not too well known and there isn't too much in the bible about him, but he did have messages for his people about a coming of the "Day of the Lord." Douglas Cook and Gregory Smith took up the offering. Coffee was served. Mr. and Mrs. H. Muldrew were forty-seven years married on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McIntosh, Dorothy Avcrys and family visited them. Mr. and Mrs. J. Plooard, Mr. Orville Woodley, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brown, Mr. and Mrs. J. Bull, Mr. and Mrs. Reg. McCool all attended the Lions Convention held at Niagara Falls last weekend, Mr, Ernie Yakiwchuk, Kim CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY and Mandy, and Julie Bull spent the weekend at a cottage on the Trent River. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Peacock had Rev. and Mrs. Ivan Dambrowitz, London last week staying in a tent trailer while Rev. Dambrowitz attended attended the Peterborough Pres- byterial National Council. Rev. Dambrowitz will be speaking at our Aug, 19 outdoor outdoor service. Mr. and Mrs. II. Quantrill spent the weekend in Guelph with Mr. and Mrs. II. Holden. Miss Wendy While spent Sunday at home witli her parents Mr, and Mrs. II. White. Mr. Jim Muldrew was with his parents Mr. and Mrs. H. Muldrew, recently, Mrs. J. Fajt, Pontypool was at Mr. and Mrs. O. Mercer's Saturday evening and called on us. Last week at the Women's Institute, it was decided to call off the July and August meetings meetings and have a trip to Lung's Park on July lltli.
