The first game of the schedule schedule was against a very strong Oshawa Turul side at the Bowmanville High School on May 23. For most of the local boys this was their first look at this calibre of soccer. The final score of Oshawa 17 Bowmanville 0 was a true indication of the excellent play of the Oshawa team and lack of experience by the Bowmanville Bowmanville squad. The second game, a 9-0 loss to Peterborough Lions in Peterborough on May 30, was a much better effort by the Bowmanville Club against another strong, well coached side. The third game on June 6 at Bowmanville High against Whitby Iroquois was a much closer game with the -- - ly getting on the scoreboard with a high shot from just outside the penalty area by regular goal keeper Andrew Watson who was playing right wing for this match. It must have been especially satisfying for Andrew, who had been between the posts for • 25 goals against, to get one back. In a game that could have gone either way, the final result was Whitby 3 Bowmanville Bowmanville 1. If the Bowmanville boys keep working hard at practices practices and learn to play together together as a team they will certainly put some victories up on the score board before the season is over. Next game - Wed., June 13 against Pickering Village at Waverley Road School (6:30 kick-off). My colleague, Douglas Dewell, and I trained the singers and played the accompaniment accompaniment for this show. Many of the students had of course received excellent coaching from Elliott Tremeer and Ever wonder If you're paying too much for car Insurance? Ask one of your neighbors about State Farm's low rates and last, dependable service. Then give me a call. Dirk Brinkman Scugog Street Bowmanville - 623-3621 John Crookshank in previous years. Both Doug and I feel that we have never worked with a group of students who had a more pleasant attitude, a greater willingness to learn, and a keener drive towards perfection, I am sure that all who saw the show will agree that it was a production to be proud of.
