Attending the impressive event were parents Neil and Marg Lee, brother David, grandmother Mrs. Arthur McColl of Nestleton, aunt Mrs. Don Morey, Oshawa and her great-aunt Mrs. Lottie Booth and uncle Mr. Harvey Connors of Scarborough. Scarborough. After Convocation, Convocation, a buffet dinner was held at the home of her parents. Present for this special celebration were aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. John Elliott and cousins Erin and Megan, Oshawa; uncle Mr. Donald Morey, cousin Donna Lee, Mr. Ernie Dart of Bethany and friend Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reid and Marni of Oshawa. Our warmest congratulations to Debbie Debbie Lee re- her graduation! The Caesarea Girl Guides participated in Girl Guide Days at Canada's Wonderland. There were 13 girls and 3 leaders who camped overnight on Friday and enjoyed the fun of the rides and shows on Saturday. Breakfast and lunch was supplied by Wonderland as part of this special occasion. A fine outing for Girls and Leaders. The newly formed evening Unit of the Nestleton U.C.W. hosted a get-acquainted evening at the Nestleton United Church on Thursday, May 31. Unit leader- Arlene Malcolm welcomed welcomed 20 ladies from the afternoon unit, evening unit and guests Anita Davis and Pat Beech. Arlene led the devotional devotional with hymns and worship -- many members taking part. This was followed by Prayer. Guest speaker Pat Beech, Greenwood, who is the President of the Oshawa Presbyterial United Church Women, outlined the basic structure structure of the U.C.W. and gave many helpful suggestions suggestions as to reading material and programs. Upcoming events were discussed and a question and answer period followed. The Units will operate separately until the end of the year at which time an executive will be elected at a general meeting. A social hour was of interest interest with refreshments provided by Kay Not- man, Carol Doyle and Yvonne Priebe. Arlene Malcolm presented a gift to Pat Beech in appreciation appreciation fpr her assistance, Bernice Mairs- President of the afternoon U.C.W. thanked the ladies for inviting inviting the older group to their get-acquainted party. Nestleton United Church A fine service at Nestleton United Church with a good attendance. Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Guides and Scouts of the community were welcomed by the minister Rev. Dale Davis. Those who have attended their respective level of achievement emblems in Religion in Life work were: Karen Doyle- Level 2- presented by Guide Leader- Wendy Dyer. Ken Weir- Level 4- presented by his father Arthur Weir, District Commissioner of Scouting. 'Hie youngsters also participated in the service by reading the portions of Scripture. Rev. Dale Davis has a most appropriate message entitled "Signs and Symbols" based on Genesis 9: 8-17 and Matthew Matthew 16:13-20, The choir sang, "Help Somebody Today." The U.C.W. will meet at the home of Ruth Davidgeon June 12, commencing commencing at 1 p.m. Happy Event Barney and Dorothy McCabe of Nestleton, are proud grandparents as daughter Janice and husband husband Martin O'Brien, Etobicoke, had their first child on Sunday, June 3rd- a husky boy, Luke Bernard James, weighing 10 lbs. 2 ounces, bom at the Etobicoke General Hospital. The McCabes have four lovely lovely granddaughters and this is the first grandson. Our warmest congratulations! Retirement Dinner Attended Mrs. Helen Vine, Blackstock, Mrs. Jean Williams, Nestleton and Constable Jerry Bowers of Peterborough, attended attended the retirement dinner party in New Liskeard on Friday evening when their sister Mrs. Dorothy Carson was honoured by the teaching staff. Among her gifts was a beautiful picture painted by a local artist -- presented in recognition of her years of service. Best wishes to Dorothy on her retirement. Presbyterian Church A good congregation at the Nestleton Presbyterian Church on Sunday last with Rev. A meeting of Kirk Session- Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Miss Michelle Armstrong Armstrong from Maynooth Public School- having won the public speaking contest at Maynooth and Bancroft was invited by the Minister to present her prize winning speech entitled "My Imaginary Friend" which was excellent. excellent. She will be 12 years old this month and plans to attend the Bancroft Bancroft High School in the fall. Congratulations to Michelle. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lyda Stinson of Nestleton -- and great granddaughter of Mrs. Amy Ginn.
